Ruth Pryor Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 30, 2017.
Ruth Clark Pryor was born in Wichita Falls, Texas on August 13, 1920. She entered heaven on August 26, 2017. She graduated from Wichita Falls High School and Texas Women's University with a degree in Interior Design. Upon graduation from college she moved to Dallas, Texas and worked for American Airlines; later she became a buyer for Neiman-Marcus.

She met James Thomas 'Jim' Pryor on a blind date and they married on September 15, 1951. They had two children, Cay Pryor Bolin (Dan) and Roger Haley Pryor (Jean), four grandchildren, Catherine 'Catie' Bolin, Caroline Haley Pryor, Haley Bolin Shellito (John), and Taylor Bradford Pryor (Mary Connell), and one great grandchild, Amos James Bolin Shellito.

Ruth helped Jim establish and grow the family business, Perma Products, and she provided leadership in her children's education serving as the president of the PTAs at Armstrong Elementary School, McCullough Junior High School, and Highland Park High School.

She was an active member of Grace Bible Church where she taught Sunday school, sponsored the youth group, participated in Women's ministry and Bible studies, and served on the Missions' Committee. She was always the perfect hostess opening her home for meetings, luncheons and social gatherings.

She and Jim were involved in the support of Dallas Theological Seminary. There was never a Thanksgiving dinner without seminary students in need of a home-cooked meal. Innumerable students packed their belongings in Perma Products boxes as they graduated and headed to new areas of ministry. Her son, Roger Pryor, and son-in-law, Dan Bolin, both graduated from Dallas Theological Seminary.

Ruth was a member of the Dallas Prayer Ministry, the Circle Review Club, the Junior Mentor Club, the Craig Class, and the Daughters of the American Revolution.

She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Ida Clark of Wichita Falls, Texas, her seven siblings, her husband, Jim Pryor of Dallas, Texas and granddaughter, Catie Bolin of Tyler, Texas.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at Grace Bible Church on Sunday evening, September 3, at 7:00. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Grace Bible Church of Dallas, Dallas Theological Seminary, or Christian Camping International.

To "Pryor". A name that would stick as I grew up in our wonderful neighborhood. Your beautiful character, charismatic laugh and giving spirit gave me many memories to cherish over the years. If I never said thank you, I want to say it now. Thank you for taking care of me when I had Scarlet Fever. Thank you for being such a wonderful friend to my family. Thank you for making me understand that being "tall" was a good thing to be for a young, awkward girl. You will always stay in my heart. The world misses your energy and your loving persona. Rest in peace, Pryor. You are loved.

Love,
Dinah Bennett Kelley

Bill and I are so saddened by Mrs. Pryor's passing; but remain gracious in her new life with the Lord. Mrs.Pryor was one of the funniest, classiest and sparkiest ladies I knew growing up and we loved her soooo much. She will be forever missed, loved and alive in our hearts.

Cay, Dan, Roger and Jean, our prayers are with you all and your families. We love you always.
