Mrs. Sallie Belle Britt Oliver, 92, passed away, at the home of her daughter, in New Bern, North Carolina, on Wednesday, September 26, 2018.

The funeral service will be held Monday at 10:30 AM at Jarvis United Methodist Church in Greenville. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery in New Bern at 2:30 PM.

Sallie's early life centered around the Newton Grove community in Sampson County, where she had been born on March 14, 1926. She met the love of her life, Herbert Warren Oliver, Sr. while they both worked at Carolina Telephone. After their marriage in 1947 and the birth of their daughter Beth they moved to New Bern. The family lived there for 10 years and welcomed another daughter, Julia, before being transferred to Greenville, NC with CT & T. In Greenville, their third child, Herb, was born

For 29 years, she worked for Sears where her outgoing personality led her to receive many outstanding sales awards. Sallie was devoted to Jarvis Memorial United Methodist Church in Greenville, NC where she was an active member for 61 years.

Preceded in death by her parents, George V. and Kate Weeks Britt, Sallie was the sixth of seven children and was the last surviving member of her generation. Sallie was also preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Warren Oliver, Sr.

She is survived by her; daughters, Elizabeth O. Rankar and husband, James of New Bern, and Julia O. Beamish and husband, Richard of Blacksburg, VA; son, Herbert W. Oliver, Jr. and wife, Traci, of Greensboro; grandsons, Richard Joseph Beamish, V and wife, Lauren Benton, Patrick Warren Beamish, and Evan Whitten Oliver; granddaughters, Elizabeth Britt Oliver and Ellis Dorn Oliver; and one future great grandchild.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 4-6 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home.
