Samuel Smallwood Obituary
He was a native of Hardin County who served in the U.S. Navy, was a member of Smith Chapel United Methodist Church an avid UK fan and golfer.
He loved spending time with his grandsons and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Generose Bailey Smallwood; and a brother, Bob Smallwood.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Martine Johnson Smallwood; a daughter, Diana (Jarrod) Shadowen of Benton; five sisters, Donna (Gary) Young of Alabama, Rose Hash of Eastview, Martha (Leonard) Borders of Elizabethtown, Becky Smallwood of Elizabethtown and Viola (Dan) Wood of Greenville; two grandsons, Wilson and Sullivan Shadowen of Benton; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral is at 11 a.m. Thursday at Smith Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Stephens officiating. Burial follows in Smith Chapel Cemetery.
Visitation is from 3:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Smith Chapel Cemetery Fund.

Martine and family, everyone in our family is so sorry for your loss. Sam was always a welcoming and caring man and y'all opened your hearts and church to my family and I. He will definitely be missed. Thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of tragedy and loss.
