Sarto Carignan Obituary

Published by Vancouver Sun and The Province from Aug. 10 to Aug. 11, 2005.
CARIGNAN _ Sarto, born April 7, 1928, passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, on August 3, 2005. In his own, inimitable style, he kept his dignity and sense of humour to the end. Sarto enjoyed his career in the RCAF and stayed in touch with many of his air force buddies when he retired. He loved travel, airplanes, cars and auto racing and while stationed in France it was just the sort of thing he would do to throw a cooler in the station wagon and head off to Monaco for the Grand Prix. He will be dearly missed by his wife Michiko; children, Glen, Renee and Francine, his brothers and sisters and many nieces, nephews and friends. While Sarto was ill he reflected that he hoped he had always helped others when he could. He certainly did, and we have many stories of his kindheartedness. In this spirit he would appreciate that any donations on his behalf be made to the Franciscan Sisters of Atonement, 385 Cordova St., V6A 1L4 or the Canadian Cancer Society, 565 W10th Ave, V5Z 454. A Funeral Mass will be held on August 12, at 10am at St. Andrew's Parish, 480 E. 47th Ave, Vancouver.

Dear Tante Michiko, Glen, Renée & Francine,

It is with great sadness that we were given the news of Oncle Sarto's passing. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you at this most difficult time. Although we had not seen each other in many years, I have a vivid image of his great big smile and wonderful Carignan laugh in my mind and will cherish the memory.

All our Love,

Chantal, Mie Jin and Oh Jang

Dear Aunt Mish, Glen, Renée & Francine. We were saddened to hear of Uncle Sarto passing away. Bruce, Chantal, and I and were fortunate to have such a wonderful uncle and who visited us quite often when we lived in Montreal. He always had great stories and Bruce loved his big trucks. Also, we were fortunate to have gotten together last summer and in the Beauce. Our thoughts are with you. Love Gordon, Karen, Madison, Judith, Bruce, Catherine, Kendra.
