Scott Vincent Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Feb. 21 to Feb. 27, 2014.
Vincent Scott R.

Scott Vincent, 42, of Oshkosh, WI passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2014.

"Vinny" was born on November 4, 1971 in Madison, WI, to Robert Vincent of The Villages, FL and Nancy Vincent of Oshkosh, WI.

Scott was loved by his friends and family for his infectious energy, fun loving spirit and spontaneous humor that he shared with everyone. Scott and his great big smile, grew up on the east side of Oshkosh where he enjoyed playing soccer, basketball and golf with his friends. He graduated from Oshkosh North High School before taking his talents to "The U" (University of Miami) where he graduated with a BS degree in Biology. He spent more than 10 years working with kids as a biology teacher and high school principal in Wisconsin and Michigan. Wherever he lived and worked, he made an impact and created lasting memories. During this time Scott had two children, Rafer and Fallon with his first wife Shayne Vincent.

Vinny lived life with zeal and energy. He had the ability to transform any experience with friends and family into a memorable event with his smile and antics. He especially enjoyed concerts, Packer/Badger/Brewers and "U" games, and dressing up in costume and growing a mustache with his crew of friends. He truly knew how to have fun in life.

Scott met his biggest fan in life, his wife Stacy whom he married last July and loved dearly. They loved spending time together with all three children and their dog. He entertained her and she loved him like no other in a partnership built on love.

Vinny was stricken with Parkinson's disease over four years ago. In addition to the physical and mental effects of this disease, he openly struggled with bipolar disease. Even with these challenges, he retained his infectious personality and kindness and celebrated life with Stacy, their children, and his family and friends. He appreciated the people in his life and let them know it often. He was a father, a husband, a brother, a son, and a loyal friend.

Scott is survived by his wife Stacy Groff-Vincent, and children Makalie Groff, Rafer and Fallon Vincent. He is also survived by his parents, Robert and Nancy Vincent, sister Angela (Doug) Stover, nephew Matthew Stover, cousins and in-laws. Special thanks to Shelly Ketelhut at Affinity Behavior Health and Dr. Stephen Shopbell.

Funeral services for Scott will be held on Saturday March 1, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home - Westside with Rev. Karen Jewell officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday February 28 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and again on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to the service time. Inurnment will be in Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Scott's name would be appreciated to: This is it-Keep it Simple (1100 E. Murdock Street, Oshkosh, WI 54901) or NAMI Oshkosh (525 N. Main Street, Oshkosh, WI 54901)

Hey Nancy: I know it has been almost a year since Scott's passing. I think of you often and want you to know you are in my prayers. As my sister, who knows from experience, says..."time passes but you never ever forget your child but find comfort in their memory"

Nancy,
Although I never had the pleasure of meeting your son, Scott, who sound like a marvelous man, I wanted to let your know how very sad for your unreal loss. Sending my sympathy and love to you at this difficult time. Kay Ehlke

Lived across the channel from Vinny. What a great neighborhood to grow up in. Whether it was neighborhood wide kick the can or whatever sport was in season there was always something going on. I hadn't seen a lot of him since high school but prior to that wether it was around the neighborhood or playing basketball for North I'd spent a fair amount of time around him. I won't claim to know him as well as some but I know and have read a lot of these tributes and they are all true. He was truly a great guy and unique personality. You really couldn't be around him and not laugh. That being said, my most heartfelt condolences to Stacy and her daughter, his entire family and his many close friends, as I know they were a large tight group and will miss him dearly.

Scott and I met early in elementary school and we quickly became friends. We basically grew up across the street from one another so most of my memories of my childhood included Scott; from playing kick the can to sports to just normal mischief. He was always so full of energy and fun loving good times. My parents reminded me of when Scott would sleep over we would be laughing so hard that his dad would have to bring over his inhaler so he could catch his breath. Although I moved west after high school I still felt a deep connection with my childhood friends and I know everyone will have an empty place in their heart because of this loss. May we all continue to carry on his zest for life and infectious smile and laugh not only in our memories but in our everyday lives.

There really are not words enough that I can say about Scott, He was one of those men you only came across once in a life time. He cared about everyone he came across and had contact with, even all the clients at the Community Pantry where he volunteered and I met him. Always a smile and always willing to help anyone with either information or showing them how the pantry worked. If he saw you down he would make you laugh, Scotts outlook on life and the love for his family was so imanate with how he would talk about them. He is a gentleman I will never forget, cause he impacted my life in such a positive way. I will MISS YOU SCOTT!!!!!

I have worked at the Oshkosh Area Community Pantry nearly since it opened at its' current location. Scott joined us as a volunteer in our early years and was always courteous and welcoming to all guests and volunteers. We were sad to see him leave but happy for the opportunity he was accepting in Milwaukee. When Scott returned to us, despite his increasing health problems he was always happy, always smiling. If I had a sour look on my face he loved to yell things to me until I smiled.. he honestly and truly wanted everyone around him to feel his positive energy and be a part of it. Besides being his volunteer coordinator I would also run into him at my waitressing job, and most recently I saw him at the roller skating rink in Neenah with his step kids. Scott was caring, generous, happy. And now that he is gone I will miss seeing him twice a week serving our customers, hanging out at players for dinner, and randomly when our paths crossed. Our lives lost a spark of positive energy, and the space will be hard to fill. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends, and to all whose lives he touched like mine.
