Sean Richard Gillis

Sean Richard Gillis, 35, of Southeastern Connecticut, passed away unexpectedly on February 14, 2023 at Hartford Hospital. Sean was born to Kenneth and Nancy Gillis on March 21, 1987. He spent most of his childhood and young adult years living in the Stonington and North Stonington areas. Sean is survived by his daughter, Anna Gillis, his parents, Kenneth and Nancy, his twin brothers, Christopher and Matthew Gillis, along with many members of his loving, extended family. He is predeceased by his grandparents, Sam and Anna Curcuro, Clarence and Elizabeth Gillis, and his uncle, Charles Gillis.

Sean was truly nature's child, with much love for outdoor activities and always up for new challenges. Some of his greatest passions included hunting, fishing, tennis and snowboarding. He was always on the move and could often be found roaming the woods, driving anything with wheels that went fast, or with family on Beach Pond in Voluntown. He had a curious and quite funny personality, which earned him the nickname "Hooty" from his "Gramps" early on in life. Sean became quite the tradesman in his adult life, working many years alongside his father in residential construction.

Sean had a short yet extremely loving relationship with his daughter, Anna. The amount of adoration he had for his "princess" was testament to his caring soul. Anna looks and acts much like her daddy, a true blessing and memory of Sean to this day.

An outdoor memorial service honoring Sean's life will be held this spring, location yet to be determined. His burial will be private among close family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sean's name to the Southeastern Council of Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (www.scadd.org) in Lebanon, CT.
