Sean Waite Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Nov. 7 to Nov. 9, 2015.
Sean Waite November 16, 1967 - November 4, 2015 Waite, Sean Vincent. Sean loved Jessica, Dash, and his family and friends with all his heart. He poured his heart into everything: his work, his hobbies, and the people that he met along the way. And on November 4, 2015 after 47 years of whole-hearted living, Sean's giant heart was spent.

Sean's parents, Jack and Pat, were incredible sources of inspiration. They gave him guidance, wisdom and fortitude, and afforded him the special kind of freedom that comes with being the youngest of many children. Sean's free-ranging childhood gave way to many legendary exploits with his friends from Elbow Park, Rideau Park, and Bishop Carroll schools.

Sean’s siblings, Rory (Wendy), Riley (Erin), Megan (Bart), Tyrone (Jenn) and Darrel (Sandra) were unbelievable role models, partners-in-crime, and occasional tormenters. Invited or not, Sean tagged along on their pursuits. As a result, Sean became well-rounded in many areas. His love of model-building, hockey and baseball, military history, cooking and board games can be traced back to Sean's remarkable upbringing.

Sean's life was full of adventures that began on Riverdale Avenue, expanded to other provinces and countries, but were always grounded by his love of Calgary, which he knew he would make his permanent home.

Sean loved family traditions and created many for every occasion. He was unwavering in his care and attention to his parents in their declining health. Sean was the family glue, a role that Sean inherited from his father. He was well on the way to instilling these values in his son. It was certainly evident in his role as a fun-loving uncle to: Nolan, Aidan and Delaney; Chandra, Alex, Hannah and Isaac; Lucas and Justin; and Emma.

Sean's three-year adventure to teach English in Japan was pivotal in his life. It was where he met Jess and also where he formed his views on family and life and where he found his career direction.

Through his impressive career rise, Sean was based in four different countries and visited most corners of the world. Sean took his family to Singapore for three years, during which they explored much of southeast Asia and welcomed many friends and family to visit their Singapore home.

Sean made an indelible impression on everyone he met, wherever he went. His caring, generous nature meant that everyone he encountered felt special. Sean's name would be at the top of anyone's list of 'people who will always be there for you'. These were specifically 'Sean' attributes that endeared him to many people, from all parts of his life.

Friends and family are invited to come together on Wednesday, November 11th at 2 pm MST at McInnis & Holloway Funeral Home, 14441 Bannister Rd. SE, Calgary. www.mhfh.com/ In lieu of flowers, donations to Connections Counselling and Consulting Foundation via www.canadahelps.org would be appreciated.

I met Sean in Brisbane Australia, when he joined Oniqua as our new CEO. Immediately he made a lasting impression on me as a sincere and caring person, with great worldly knowledge. As we worked together, we very quickly gained an understanding of each other, him more of me than me of him. However, Sean seemed able to work out who you were, what made you tick and how best to make you feel appreciated. He always had words to make you feel good and encouraged you to move forward, sometimes beyond your comfort zone. But with his support and the confidence he gave you, challenges just seemed a little bit easier and sometimes even fun. I am so glad that I met Sean, even though it was only for such a short time. He has made a lasting impression on me as a special person and we often speak of him with great fondness. My sincere condolences to his family, who I never knew. But I hope you know how much of a positive effect Sean had on people like me, even over such a short time.

I hope he would have allowed me to call him a friend. Rest in Peace Sean. Tim

Our condolences to the Waite Family. Our family moved to Riverdale Avenue, in I believe 1969, it did not take long before we were hanging out with the Waite clan. When we first met Sean he was a cute little guy with blonde curly hair and a sweet smile. We had our hands full keeping on top of the shenanigans of Sean and my bother Sean both the youngest of 5 kids. Sean and the entire Waite family were a big part of our happy memories of growing up on Riverdale. We are so sorry for your loss. You are in our hearts and prayers. The Stacey Family, Beverley, Dan and the "kids" - Kelly, Julia, Daniley, Rosie and Sean.

What a BEAUTIFUL service. The tributes were so touching. You all spoke so well. I could have listened for hours. Your lives together were so FULL, and never just thinking of yourselves. After listening to how Sean lived, I am going to try and live my life more like he did. Each moment spent with others was SHARED. Giving all moments the quality they deserve. Sean & Jess, you have given Dash a life full of experience and amazing memories. He will follow in his dad's footsteps and be extraordinary, in kindness and intelligence.

I'm sorry for your loss. Although I only worked with him for a short while, he became a mentor and a friend. He talks about you, Jessica, and Dash lovingly in many conversations. And the terra cotta statue in front of your house. He was a funny man and a great leader. He will always be an inspiration in my life. I'm praying your family.

Jess & Dash ...

We met a couple of times; in Brisbane and Singapore.

I am so very sad and sorry to hear of Sean's death.

To me, Sean was a manager, mentor, friend and drinking buddy.

Mostly, I'll remember the margarita fueled nights at Clarke Quay, with nothing but a few corn chips to soak up the cocktails, and how for hours Sean's unbounded enthusiasm, inspirational character and sheer range of knowledge would keep me enthralled.(I've read 5 or 6 books on Game Theory now)

But most of all his unflappable belief that people around him could honestly fulfill their potential has indelibly left its mark on me.

It was truly a privilege.

Dear Jessica and Dash,

My heartfelt condolences to both of you.

I remember how much Sean loved his family and can only imagine how much he truly loved you too. Whenever he did anything, it was always accompanied with pure passion and grand gesture, and love was no exception.

I will always have fond memories of his kindness, thoughtfulness, quick wit, competive and tenacious nature.

Although we had not been in touch for many many years, this news is utterly heartbreaking.

He will continue to remain in my thoughts, and I send wishes of peace and strength to all who loved him.

It was a pleasure to have known Sean, he made a difference in my life that I won't ever forget.

He was truly an amazing guy.

Sean, I have known you since birth. From then until now, I don't think you were ever without a smile on your face, or without a positive thought or comment. I can't recall you ever being angry.

As years passed, I saw less and less of Sean, except through photos. Hearing the news of his sudden passing, for me and so many others, brought sadness and remembrance of his years alive; the goodness he brought to the world.

From the deepest part of my heart I send condolences to Sean's immediate family, and to all the Waite family. Sean will not be forgotten. He will be missed.

Sean was one of the first people I met when I started at IHS in 2009. From the moment I met him I instantly knew that he was both an inspiring person and a visionary leader. He was instrumental in my professional development and became a great friend over the few short years that I had the pleasure of knowing him. He was a very rare and special being. My heart goes out to his wife, his young son, and the rest of his family during this most difficult time.

Perfect words that aptly describe the man. His sense of adventure is infectious and he was instrumental in my growth both personally and professionally. Without Sean there would have been no UK adventure. I will miss sporadically meeting up in London for dinner, our chats about Wicked and Harry Potter, and our love of building Lego even though we are in our 40s. I will miss making fun of your sunburned head and blaming you for when anything goes wrong. Scratch that, I will still blame you when anything goes wrong. And every year on our birthday, I will still raise a glass to you my friend.
