Sherry L. Arthur

Sherry L. Arthur, 38, of Greenfield Twp., passed away on Wednesday at her home after a long battle with addiction.

Born Oct. 6, 1979, in Carbondale, she was the daughter of Curtis "Bumper" Tallman of Greenfield Twp. and the late Patricia "Patsy" Ruddy Tallman. Sherry was a graduate of Lakeland Junior- Senior High School and later entered the military and was a graduate of the United States Army and remained an active member of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. She also earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Keystone College, where she graduated magna cum laude. Upon graduation, Sherry had been employed by Penn National Gaming, Carbondale, until taking a position as facility director for the Community Education Center, Scranton.

She is survived by two children, Riley and Thomas Arthur, both at home; two sisters, Shannon Cavalier and husband, Dean, and their children, Austin and Drew, all of Jermyn; and Carly Tallman and companion, Justin Munley, of Greenfield Twp.; her former husband, Thomas Arthur, of Greenfield Twp.; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The funeral will be Tuesday at 7 p.m. from the Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 89 Farview St., Carbondale. Private interment will be at a later date at Sandy Banks Cemetery, Greenfield Twp.
