Shirley Goldberg Kantor - Melbourne - Shirley Goldberg Kantor, 87, a loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away on Monday, January 11, 2010 at Holmes Regional Medical Center. Shirley was born in Union, NJ, on June 24, 1922, and grew up in Hempstead, Long Island. Shirley met her husband, Nathan at a "Welcome Home Soldiers" party in 1945. They were married on August 3, 1947, after which they moved to Chicago where she worked long hours to help her husband through medical school. In 1951 they moved to Easton, PA where they lived for 30 years and raised their family. She and Nathan moved to Melbourne in 1981. While living in Brevard County, Shirley worked for the Space Coast Credit Union and most recently, Advanced Lazer Technologies. She and her husband were members of Temple Beth Sholom. Shirley served our country honorably in World War II in the Woman's Army Corp, and later was an active member of the Brevard Chapters of WACs and Jewish War Veterans. Shirley is survived by her husband of 62 years, Nathan; daughter, Roz; sons, Alan and Bill; four grandsons, and numerous relatives and close friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Yad Sarah (www.yadsarah.org), the American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
