SONJA MCFARLIN
BETHALTO — Sonja M. McFarlin, 41, passed away at 2:27 p.m., on Friday, April 20, 2018, at her residence.
She was born on July 5, 1976, in Alton, Illinois, the daughter of Alge "Mack" and Vickie (Leggett) McFarlin, who both survive.
Sonja enjoyed being on the computer, chatting with her friends and gaming. She was into science fiction and writing. She enjoyed watching cooking shows with her grandmother and traveling to New Jersey with her friends.
Along with her parents, she is survived by her maternal grandmother, Lola V. (Sterling) Leggett of Bethalto; a brother, Shawn McFarlin; two uncles, Danny (Marian) Leggett of Oxford, Mississippi, and Jerry (Vickie) McFarlin of Markem, Illinois; two aunts, Jo Handy of Alvin, Texas, and Christine Turk of Dallas, Texas; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Dan P. Leggett; paternal grandparents, Johnny and Edith (James) McFarlin; maternal great-grandparents, Oliver L. and Grace B. (Sterling) Roberts.
Visitation will be Friday, April 27, 2018, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Funeral services will be on Saturday, April 28, 2018, at 10 a.m. at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Pastor Charles West will officiate. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials may be made to Madison County Humane Society or Shriner's Children's Hospital.
