Stephen Rusher Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 23, 2025.
Stephen Eric Rusher, 76, passed away on August 14, 2025, in Lytle Creek, California. Born on July 19, 1949, in San Francisco, California, Stephen led a life marked by compassion, creativity, and dedication to both his profession and his art.

For three decades, Stephen served as a clinical psychologist with the Department of Behavioral Health for San Bernardino County. His work touched countless lives across the region, offering support and guidance to those navigating mental health challenges. His commitment to the well-being of others was a defining aspect of his career and left a lasting impact on the community he served.

Beyond his professional life, Stephen was also a renowned artist celebrated for his modern acrylic paintings. His canvases were known for their vibrant colors and bold expression-works that captured emotion and movement with striking clarity. His art became a powerful extension of his voice and vision, earning him recognition among collectors and fellow artists alike.

Stephen shared 28 years of marriage with Marian Crljenica until her passing in 2008 from metastatic breast cancer. Their partnership was one of deep connection and mutual support.

He is survived by two sons: Ron Pesch and his wife Andrea of Oregon; and John Pesch and his wife Jeanine of Victorville. He also leaves behind five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren who carry forward his legacy. Stephen is also remembered by his sisters: Penny Newman of Jurupa Valley; Debbie Burgett of Kingman, Arizona; and Jeanne Bouley of Arizona.

Stephen was preceded in death by his beloved wife Marian and his son Paul Pesch.

A man of intellect and imagination, Stephen balanced the analytical rigor of psychology with the expressive freedom of art. His life's work-both in service to others and through creative expression-continues to inspire those who knew him.

May his memory bring comfort to all who mourn his passing.
