Son of Janet Turley and the late Clarence M. Turley, Jr., son-in-law of the late Emil B. and Clare Alt. Brother of James (Lynne) and Sarah Turley. Wonderful uncle and great-uncle to many nieces and nephews.

I did not get to know Steve as well as I would have liked to in the last year plus, after meeting him and lovely wife Barb, but I knew in my heart during this short time, that he was a very kind, loving father and husband, and most of all a very generous and faithful Christian; a man of true faith and love. His family and friends will miss him immensely. If we can all carry on his true spirit and good heart; his love and faith, then perhaps his loss will not be an actual loss to us, but a gain. Steve has left behind an incredible legacy of faith, friendship, love, generosity and kindness, that will hopefully endure for many years through all the lives he touched.

Steve and I have known each other for 43 years and he has been the best of all friends! Always felt like a brother I never had ! I have had such a blessing to share a large part of my life with him !
We double dated with our girlfriends at the time before we met our wonderful wives Lynda and Barbara , we shared many years in the St. Michael and St George´s young adult group of friends and Barbara introduced me to my wife Lynda. Steve was always so funny and witty and we enjoyed kidding each other and talking about issues or more importance.
Steve and Barbara were in our wedding and then they got married!
They are Godparents to our children! I got to share in their excitement to bring Clare and Max here! Steve is inextricably linked to my life and my family´s life. He is Uncle Steve to my kids! Just 3 weeks ago he was calling my eldest to congratulate him on graduating from college.
The fond memories of spending time with him and with Barbara and the kids will be precious to me forever. I will greatly miss our great chats in person , but what a blessing I have had to have him as a best buddy for so long. I am sure in some way even from heaven he will try to let me know about some great movies I should look up!

Steve and I worked at the same company for 20 years, although our various paths usually only brought us together a few time a year. Every single encounter with Steve was a positive one and I always looked forward to talking with him again. After he left the company I was lucky enough to visit with him a few times more at retirements and reunions which added to my pleasant memories. My deepest condolences to his family and friends.

I first met Steve one late afternoon when I was waiting to meet my future husband, Bob Cox, at his place in Brentwood. This tall, handsome fellow sat with me and asked so many questions that I finally realized I was being vetted.

Steve and Bob have been friends for 40 years. I was lucky enough to be welcomed into the group, with Barbara and I breaking the Cox-Turley 500 dating streak.

I always loved catching up with Steve and hearing about the obscure movies he´d recently watched or bonding over our unusual attachment to correct grammar. This man left an impression on everyone he met, of kindness, intelligence, love of life, God and his family. His voice and cadence was so distinct that I can still hear him addressing my husband as "Roberto".

I am so sorry for this huge loss for Barbara, Clare and Max, and the whole Turley family in particular, and truly those who were lucky enough to spend any amount of time with him in general. How blessed we all have been having Steve in our lives (no matter the amount of time) !

I pray for peace that exceeds our understand for all of Steve´s family. Please know that you are loved and we´ll be here to reminisce or support you all as we heal from the loss.
Sending much love.

We were saddened to hear of Steve's passing. We worked together for over 20 years at Genelco (..Metlife/NaviSys/Liberty Insurance Services/ Royal Bank of Canada / IBM / Concentrix) . He was an important part of our retirement social club. Miss his quick wit and trivia expertise - especially movie trivia. He left a legacy here with his work family and will be missed. We had lots of conversations about our faith, about my son's law school and career, and about his own family, who he loved so very much. Prayers for you and your family, Barbara.

Steve was my fraternity brother/roommate at Depauw for 4 years. Following graduation, we kept in touch, contacting each other every month or so. He came to visit my wife and I this summer and we had a wonderful time sharing memories and watching horror movies. He was a very funny guy and quirky, which is what attracted me to him in the first place. At Depauw, he would ask me to wake him up from his 7 minute nap so he could go study at the library. I always said "Why bother?" I would wake him up in 10 minutes and say "I let you sleep in". He made extensive lists on what he needed to do each day, examples being "7 am-get up, 7:05, shave, 7:10, use the bathroom, 7:18, shower, 7:30, eat breakfast..." His entire day was planned out. I would often add things to this list, like "7:40-say hello to Bill" or "8:40, take a 7 minute nap" and he would laugh about these things. He was also a sleep walker and one time I caught him heading down the stairs in his underwear and I asked what he was doing and he said "Going to the library to study." After graduation, any time I saw a horror movie I enjoyed, I would text him to tell him to see it and he did the same for me. Steve was one of a kind and there are memories that I only share with him. It was one of those rare relationships which remained the same over the course of 50 years. I love him and don´t really know what I will do without him.

Steve was my first friend at CHS. We moved across the street from him in `68. He was a warm, kind, and genuine person and we kept up our friendship over the years. I will so miss his sense of humor and sincerity. Sending my love, prayers, and healing thoughts to Steve´s family and friends. He is dearly missed.

I am dismayed and saddened. We had just reconnected when he reached out to me about our 50th high school reunion. He was an affable man and I am glad to have known him. Such a great loss to family and friends.

This is heartbreaking news. Steve was a dear friend of mine for many years and a tall tree (no pun intended) in the St. Louis community. Steve personified kindness, generosity, humility, and intellect and will always hold a very special place in my heart.
Sincere condolences to all the Turleys. I am very grateful for knowing you. Special regards for Barbara, Clare, and Max. with this tremendous loss.
