VIERS Mr. Stephen M. Viers Sr., age 64 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Sunday, October 19, 2008, at the Capital Region Medical Center. Stephen was born April 2, 1944, in St. Louis, Mo., the son of Carl L. and Myrtle J. Jones Viers, both deceased. A lifelong resident of the central Missouri area, he was a 1962 graduate of Montgomery County R-2 School in Montgomery City, Mo. He was employed with the Business Enterprise Program for the Blind with the Missouri Dept. of Social Services retiring as an assistant superintendent in 2006. Stephen enjoyed gardening and fishing. Survivors include: two sons, Stephen M. Viers Jr. of Warrenton, Mo. and Anthony L. Viers and his wife Amanda of Truxton, Mo.; two daughters, Christina Jensen and her husband Gary of Boonville, Mo. and Julie Biggs of Wentzville, Mo.; his life partner of 28 years, Tony Higgenbotham of Jefferson City, Mo.; and Tony's brothers, sisters, and family, who loved Stephen deeply, especially Tony's mother, Phyllis "Granny" Sheets of New Florence, Mo.; two sisters, Caroline L. Powell of Mary Esther, Fla. and Deborah J. Jarrett and her husband George of New Florence, Mo.; nine grandchildren including Shane Viers, who survives of the home. A celebration of life service will be conducted at 7 p.m., Tuesday, October 21, 2008, in the Freeman Chapel with Mr. William Shae officiating. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society or the Community Hospices of America. I just learned of your loss. My heart goes out to you. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I only knew Steve thur your stories but I know if he was loved by you then he was loved by a great person, and with that he was happy and content.
