Steven Hoffman Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 5, 2023.
Steven (Steve) Rehm Hoffman of Cape Coral FL passed away in his home with family by his side on July 28, 2023. Steve was born in Oak Park, IL, on June 19, 1950 to Warren and Roberta Hoffman, formerly of Downers Grove IL and Mishawaka IN.

In his early years, he enjoyed being a drummer in a band, he also developed a fascination with electronics and ham radios. After earning his Associates of Arts degree, Steve worked at AT&T and later as a sales associate for several Illinois companies selling industrial controls to manufacturers in northern Illinois. He was outstanding salesman of the year for a number of years during his career. In addition to his talents in electronics, Steve had a passion for antique homes (renovating 4 in his lifetime.) As an automotive enthusiast, he completed multiple classic car restoration projects. His passions also included genealogy, taking several European trips to do research on his family tree, leaving a treasured legacy for generations to come. In 2004, Steve joined the Board of Directors of Mission:Chad, an organization that raised funds for a seminary and indigenous orphanage in Chad, Africa. He was a talented videographer and website creator who was thankful to be able to use his creativity to serve his Savior, Jesus. Despite all his many talents, Steve's most notable feature was his kind and gentle spirit that was abundantly displayed even through his years of suffering with ALS. He was an inspiration to all and will be greatly missed.

Steve is survived by his former spouse Nancie Hudell Hoffman of Cape Coral, Florida, his sister Lynn Romero of Pueblo, Colorado; three daughters, Andrea Peoples of Cape Coral, Florida, Natalie (Barry) Mayer of Denver, Colorado, and Katherine Hoffman of Des Moines IA; four grandchildren, twins Adelae and Madelyn Mayer, and Dane and Conor Peoples, all of Colorado; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother and father and his brother, Dean.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Steve's friends including his caregivers for their love and support during his battle with ALS.

In keeping with Steve's wishes, no formal funeral service will be held.

In honor of Steve's memory, we kindly request any donations be made to an ALS foundation to help find a cure.

Sorry for your loss. He was a very nice person and had many good times with him, along with my dad, brother and my late mom. From family vacations to holiday gatherings to birthday celebrations. So many good memories. He will be dearly missed. May he come into the heavens with God and our savior Jesus Christ.
