Family and friends gathered together at St Peter's Church, Mansfield, for the service which preceded private cremation at the town's crematorium of local resident Mr Thomas Roger Booth Collins (known as Roger) (78), of Abbeydale Drive.
Born at Clipstone Avenue, Mansfield, and educated at the town's Queen Elizabeth's Boys' School and Repton School, Derbyshire, Mr Collins had lived locally for most of his life.
He was a wholesaler of tobacco and groceries, and then in 1960/61 he bought Bolton's Furniture on Bridge Street at Mansfield, which he ran until his retirement in the mid 1990s after which the business continued to be run by the family.
A member of the Round Table, 41 Club and Rotary Club of Mansfield, Mr Collins was chairman the governing body of Manor School at Mansfield Woodhouse for a number of years. He also enjoyed golf and motor rallying.
Mr Collins, who died at King's Mill Hospital, Sutton, leaves his wife, Mrs Pat Collins, three sons, Simon, Jeremy and Timothy, daughter Ginge, 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Floral tributes were from immediate family and donations were received for the British Heart Foundation.
The service was conducted by the Rev J. Pulman, the Rev D. Fudger and Mr B. Gaunt. Arrangements were by K. Gregory & Sons Ltd.
