Ted Templeton Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 29, 2025.
Theodore Joseph Templeton, lovingly known as Ted, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2025, in Fremont, California, where he resided for the past 54 years. He was born on May 2, 1934, in Whittier, California.

Ted was a man of deep integrity, known for his honesty, organization and generosity. His ability to see both sides of any situation and present information with logic and fairness. Ted's thoughtfulness and sense of humor brought joy to those around him.

Ted enjoyed a rich and fulfilling life, finding great pleasure in golf, traveling the world with his wife and friends, and spending cherished vacations with his family.

Ted took pride in designing and landscaping his backyard, tending to his fruit trees, and maintaining his home with care. He had a deep admiration for skilled handymen and enjoyed learning and researching home projects, ensuring he could fix things himself. His resourcefulness and dedication were evident in everything he did.

Ted attended Stanford University, where he earned a degree in civil engineering and studied meteorology during his four years of service in the United States Air Force. He worked for Alameda County Flood Control for the majority of his career.

He was predeceased by his parents, Winifred Bingham and Bruce King Templeton, as well as his brother, Richard (Dick) Templeton, and Winnifred Templeton.

Ted is survived by his beloved wife, Beth Templeton; his children, Laura, Victoria, and Bruce; and his best friend and brother-in-law, Richard Bell. Ted was adored by his 8 grandchildren: Cooper, Tyler, Haley, Megan, Brooke, Alex, Sam and Robbie.

A celebration of Ted's life will be held in July. If you would like to attend, please reach out to the family for details.

Ted's legacy of integrity, kindness, and fairness will be forever cherished by those who knew him.

Laura said it so well: I don't think Ted understood the impact he had on others. His integrity, humility, and kindness were exceptional, and one could not help but be moved by his example of how to be an outstanding human. At a dinner last year, I tried to get him to embrace his unique amazingness. He would take the bait. He maintained his extreme humility until the end.

I am so, so thankful that Ted was a big part of my life over the years. His example of how to live will stay with me for a long time. I will miss him but trust that he is at peace.

Condolences to the whole family for this significant loss.

Uncle Ted let me drive his Lexus. How trusting is that if I picked a celebrity whom he most reminded me of I wouldn´t say Fred Rogers, whom I have a very high regard for it was wonderful knowing you, Ted.

Mr. Templeton was such a sweet, kind man. He was so patient and loving and a great dad and husband. I knew him my whole life and will miss seeing him sitting in his chair through the window, backing into the driveway after work, and sharing his carefully cut fruit from his trees. I can clearly hear him say, "Marlene!" whenever I entered his house. I will miss him and am so glad I knew him.
