Theodore H. Svenningsen III

Theodore H. Svenningsen, III, 89 of Lakeville, and Hudson, MA. passed away Oct. 20, 2016 at Marlboro Hills Nursing Home after a long illness. Theodore grew up in Brighton, MA and joined the Navy on his 17th birthday, 1944. During WW II, he was a gunner, on the USS Omaha during the Normandy Invasion, where he received a Bronze Star. He was always very patriotic to our country. Ted was Past Commander and Past Finance Officer of the American Legion Post 100 in Hudson. He also was a charter member of the Hudson Amvets Post 208, a member of the Berkley American Legion Post 121 in Berkley, MA, a life member of the Freetown VFW Post 6643 and a life member of the VFW Hudson Post 1027. He had a deep passion for music. Ted enjoyed entertaining many people with his Piano playing at many places. Besides his unique charm, unforgettable smile, and blue eyes he lived life to the fullest! He was also a lifetime member of the Painters Union Local 35 in Boston and owned his own painting company in Brighton for many years until he retired. He is survived by his sister, Virginia Corr; two daughters, Diane Svenningsen (Long) and Laura Svenningsen (Rogaishio); a son Theodore Svenningsen, IV; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and many nieces and Nephews. He was also the father of the late Jill Svenningsen (Marsicano) who passed away in 2002. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 from 9:30 | 10:30 in the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, 280 Bedford St., Lakeville, MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in Sts. Martha and Mary Church in Lakeville. Interment will follow at 1:30 PM in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
