Thomas Charles Banaszak

Thomas Charles Banaszak passed away on October 3, 2024 at his home. Tom was born on December 29, 1936 in Hammond, Indiana to the late Irene (Swiontek) Banaszak and John M. Banaszak.

Tom had an amazing sense of adventure. After graduating from Indiana University in the early 60's, he joined the US Navy and was stationed at NAS Chase Field near Beeville, Texas. He had a great passion for sailing, flying his airplane, riding his horses, windsurfing and snow skiing. Second to his family, Tom loved nature. For over fifty years he was devoted to protecting his wetlands, where he would often talk about the swans, various birds and wildlife that visited as well as the cats that he took in and cared for as his own.

He is survived by his nieces and nephews, Monica (Paul) Dachota, John (Sandi) Banaszak, Elyse (Tim) Smith, George (Charron) Banaszak, and Michael (Stephanie) Banaszak. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Leonard Banaszak and John "Jack" Banaszak. A private celebration of Tom's life will be held at a later date.
