Thomas Conley Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 26, 2024.
Thomas E. Conley (aka Tim & "Poppie"), 81, of Centerville, MA passed away on September 24, 2024, at Southwood at Norwell Nursing Center. Born on May 22, 1943 in Providence, RI, Tim was a cherished figure in his community and family, embodying the virtues of love, generosity, humility and most importantly, family. He is survived by his wife, Lisa, 79, and their children: Brook and his wife Jenn of Pembroke, MA; Adam and his wife Kate of Wakefield, RI; and Jeff and his wife Natalie of Manchester-by-the-Sea, MA. Tim was a very proud grandfather to seven grandchildren: twins Sara & Taylor, Maddie, Lyndee, Kelsey, Cam, and Chase. He also leaves behind his loving & devoted sister, Jeanne Sunderland of Providence, niece Sheri Sunderland & partner Lori, niece Kim & husband Everett Bianco and their daughters Alex and Brittany, and nephew Rick Sunderland.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Irene Conley, brother-in-law Michael Franklin and mother & father-in-law George & Norma Franklin.

Tim graduated from LaSalle in Providence and later attended Providence College, where he honed the skills that would serve him throughout his career in sales. In addition to his professional career, he served in the Rhode Island National Guard. Tim & Lisa moved to Cape Cod in 1971 where they resided in Centerville and set their roots and began their family, while still keeping very close ties to Providence family & friends.

Tim's life was rich with hobbies that he shared with his family and friends. He was a people person who always enjoyed striking up a conversation and making others smile. He was passionate about coaching his sons' youth sports teams, snow skiing, boating and enjoying pond hockey and summer activities on Lake Wequaquet with his grandkids. Tim was an avid dog lover, had many over his lifetime, and spent his late years with his loyal Shamrock, always by his side. Even with all of the activities and friends that he surrounded himself by, there was nothing more important to him than his 7 grandchildren. From attending their youth & high school sports, to ski adventures, to sitting watching the ducks and skipping rocks on the lake, they fulfilled & completed his life and were his everything. And as Poppie would always say to has grandchildren, 'I love you sooooooo much!'

A celebration of life, at a date to be determined, will be planned in the near future, where family and friends will gather to honor Tim's memory and the immense impact he had on those around him. His legacy of kindness, dedication, and love will continue to inspire all who knew him. Our deepest gratitude for the amazing team at Southwood at Norwell Nursing Center for taking such great care of Tim over the past year.

I worked with Tim for four years at Highline. He was a very thoughtful, kind and gentle man. i´ll always cherish the moments when we would drive to and from work when he would open up and tell me about the classic cars used to own and how he missed them.
