On Saturday, June 22, 2002, age 92, of Pensacola, FL., formerly of Fox Chapel; husband of the late Jane Provost Hopkins and Rebecca Rankin Hopkins; father of Thomas A. Hopkins, PhD and his wife Wendy J. Bray, of Windsor, MD, and Susan H. Martin and her husband Christopher S. Martin of Oakmont; grandfather of Stephen A. Martin, MD and his wife Ruth A. Potee, MD of Boston, MA and Timothy H. Martin, MD and his wife Margaret L. Martin, MD of Highland Park; great-grandfather of Benjamin Potee-Martin and Ellen Potee-Martin, both of Boston, MA; brother of Pauline H. Taylor of Cranberry Twp. and the late Ruth H. Dean; stepfather of Leonora R. Edwards and her husband George, Frederick W. Rankin and wife Jami, Edward R. Rankin and his wife Kay, and David D. Rankin and his wife Lane, all of FL; also survived by seven step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild. A graduate of Peabody High School in 1927 and of Carnegie Tech in 1931, Mr. Hopkins had been president for 60 years of the Provident Agency, Inc. of O'Hara's R.I.D.C. Park before retiring in 1991 at the age of 81. He had also been an elder and trustee of the East Liberty Presbyterian Church for many years. Mr. Hopkins was a member of the University Club and the Oakmont Country Club. Interment private. Memorial contributions may be made to the Thomas E. Hopkins Fund at St Peters E. & R.
