Surviving are his wife of 52 years of Sumter; two sons, Dr. Thomas Rhett Spencer Jr. and his wife Virginia of Florence and Curtis Melvin Spencer and his wife Adelaide of Sumter; a daughter, Susan Martha Spencer Brabham and her husband John M. Jr. of Sumter; three sisters, Billie Lively of Bradenton, Fla., Sara Ham of Macon, Ga., and Serena Peterson of Conyers, Ga.; five grandchildren, Mary "Meg" Felicia Spencer, Thomas Rhett Spencer III, John Malcolm Brabham III, Spencer Thomas Brabham and Serena "Sallie" Adelaide Spencer.
Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 30 at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Edward McLeod and the Rev. Nick Yoda officiating. Burial will be in Sumter Cemetery.
