Thomas Walsh Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Dec. 20 to Dec. 27, 2018.
Thomas "Tim" N. Walsh Jr., 74, passed away at home on December 17,2018 due to complications of Agent Orange exposure. Tim was born in Providence, a son of the late Marjorie and Thomas Walsh Sr. He is survived by his wife and best friend Kathlyne Rego Walsh, his sister Judi Szymanski (Tampa, FL), his daughter, Christie Rishworth and her husband Corey (North Kingstown), his son, Thomas Nicholas Walsh III and wife Danielle (North Kingstown). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Isabella, Tobey, and Tommy Walsh IV. Tim Walsh was an incredible husband, loving father and loving grandfather. He was loved by all of his friends and family throughout the state of Rhode Island. Tim Walsh lived an active life growing up in East Providence. He spent many summers growing up on the beach at Bonnet Shores. He was known as the cool guy at a whopping 6 foot 6, helping his East Providence basketball team win the state championship. He ended his high school career at an infamous final match in Madison Square Garden. He became an All-American basketball player and got a full scholarship to The University of Santa Fe. He was a strong and athletic man. And he was also a family man. He spoke with his sister, Judi, every Saturday morning.
He always looked forward to his Disney trips that he took with his family and he did a great Goofy impression for his grandkids. Tim had an amazing sense of humor and could make anyone laugh. He was known to call people "turkeys".
Tim was a medic who served and helped many soldiers during the Vietnam War. The job he enjoyed the most was being the Narragansett
Town Beach Manager. He also loved teaching English at Roger Williams Middle School in Providence for 23 years. This is where he met his wife, settled down and built a home in Saunderstown, RI and started his family. Tim was also a hard-working entrepreneur who co-owned Dutch Harbor Shipyard in Jamestown. Tim was always an active member of the Plum Beach Club and served on the PBC Board of Governors on and off for 20+ years. Recently, he was known to be a dedicated URI basketball fan, going to almost every home game since 2006.
The family wishes to thank all the nurses and therapists from South County Home Health and his many doctors.
His Funeral will be held Saturday, December 22, 2018 at 8:45am from the FAGAN-QUINN Funeral Home, 825 Boston Neck Road, North Kingstown, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Bernard Church, 275 Tower Hill Road, North Kingstown. Visiting hours Friday from 4-8pm.

I just heard of Tim's passing today. So sorry for all of his family. I was a member of the class of 62 and fondly remember Tim playing basketball with Leon Paparella and Mike Reavey just to name a few. Tim was a great basketball player and he always stood out not just for his height but for his skills on the court.

Me prayers and thoughts are with all of his family.

Sorry to hear of Tim's passing. It reminded me of my youth in East Providence. Me a little guy trying to defend agaist him in basketball games in the Carroll back yard. Him leading the Sacred Heart CYO and East Providence High School basketball teams to many victories. In those days in the late 50's, Tim was part of the pack that used to do a lot of walking around EP before we had licenses and cars. My prayers are for Tim and all of his family.
