Timothy William Canty died unexpectedly on November 24, 2021, following an early Thanksgiving celebration with 4 generations of his loving family. Tim was born to William and Dorothe Canty, Jr., in Ridgway, Pennsylvania, on February 8, 1945, and lived in Berkley, Michigan. He is survived by his mother, Dorothe, of Berkley as well as his brother, Gary (Sherry) of Royal Oak, Michigan, and sisters, Julianne (Joseph) McClure, Darlene (Joseph) Ditrapani, and Laurie (Donald) Johnson, all of Troy, Michigan. Tim was pre-deceased by his father, William, in 1989, as well as his grandparents Herbert and Mayme Olson, William and Laurencia Canty and Julia Ross Canty, all of Ridgway.

Tim graduated in 1963 from Ridgway High School and from Allegheny College, Meadville, Pennsylvania in 1967. Tim's post-graduate education continued at Case Western Reserve and Cleveland State University in Cleveland, Ohio, Kent State University, Kent, Ohio, as well as Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan. His concentration was in physical therapy with a concentration in exercise physiology and kinesiology. Tim was instrumental in setting up the first sports medicine clinic within a teaching institution when he became the first sports medicine athletic trainer at Cleveland Clinic. During his career he focused primarily on student athlete safety and worked within several high school, university, and professional organizations in Ohio and Michigan to promote and teach proper management of sports injuries. Tim loved living in Berkley and was a member of the Citizen's Advisory Committee, Berkley, City of Berkley, supporting Berkley residents and their community, volunteering and sharing his leadership skills. In addition, Tim was Managing Member, Urban Resorts and Sports Ventures, LLC.

Tim's devotion to his family was immeasurable. His recognition and counsel to friends was impactful. Tim was the primary companion for his loving mother, Dorothe, following his father's death. As a grand supporter of his siblings, as well as a beloved uncle of his nieces and nephews, he was an absolute favorite among all! His caring and supportive demeanor was a tribute to his character. Tim's love for his pets and those of others was strong and unending.

In addition to his mother, brother and sisters, Timothy is survived by several nieces and nephews - Karen (Tim) Wilcox, Stephen (Colleen) McClure, Marianne (Roger) Krzeminski, Jennifer (Paul) Mikulski, Carey (Zach) Batchelor, Joseph (Lindsey) Ditrapani, Megan (Justin) Pethke, Adam Johnson, Brian Johnson, and Christopher Johnson - as well as 18 great- nieces and nephews. Tim is also is survived by his aunt, Carole Traut, and cousins, Lisa Burgessor, Susan White and Trudy Moon, all of Colorado and his close friend, Nathan Brasseur of Nevada.

A funeral Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated at Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church in Berkley with interment at Oakview Cemetery in Royal Oak, Michigan.
