Timothy Steiner Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 2, 2016.
Tim G. Steiner had a big bellowing laugh, a unique and hilarious sense of humor, a tremendous love of music and could sing "Thunder Road" at the top of his lungs when called upon. He was brilliant, sweet, and beloved by many. We are shocked that he is gone so soon; 48 years is much too short a time with such an amazing man. Tim passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2016 at his home in Chicago. He was born Oct. 15, 1967 in Winfield, IL, to Thomas and Betty Steiner. Tim was raised in Libertyville and was a 1985 graduate of Libertyville High School, where he was fortunate to find lifelong friends. He received a Masters degree from the University of Illinois and lived in Chicago for more than 20 years, where he met and married his wife of 15 years. Tim loved his career in Human resources and was energized by the people he worked with. He leaves behind his beloved wife Samantha H. Steiner of Chicago; mother, Betty L. Steiner of Mundelein; brother, Kevin (Teresa) Steiner of Mundelein; sister, Jeanne (Joseph) Klemp of Libertyville; and by his loving nieces and nephews, Jackson, Paige, Bethany, & Mathias. His in-laws Susan and David Hunter, Allison (Jason Kopecky) Hunter, Theo Hunter and nephew, Calvin, will also miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Steiner in 2007. Visitation will be 3:00 p.m. until the time of services at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 5 at Burnett-Dane Funeral Home, 120 W. Park Ave. (one block west of Milwaukee Ave.) Libertyville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to City of Hope. For info 847-362-3009 or Sign the guestbook at www.burnettdane.com.

My deepest sympathy goes out to Samantha and the Steiner & Hunter families.

Tim was one of my two best friends at Butterfield Elementary and at Libertyville HS. I graduated with Tim in 1985 as well.

While deeply saddened, I'll try to think about happier times. Tim's dad was our Den Leader in Cub Scouts, so I remember all those good times at the Steiner household on Tuesday nights throughout the school year. He and I both played bass clarinet in the band from grades 5-12, and shared a locked once or twice. While I remember our friendly competition in band, I remember his friendship above all.

Despite having lost touch after high school, I did think back upon our good times frequently throughout college and beyond.

With sadness and great sympathy,
John Frieders
