Todd Charles Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 12, 2024.
Todd J. Charles passed away on June 4, 2024 after a long battle with Esophageal Cancer. He was a fighter and endured more than most can even imagine. He passed in the loving arms of his wife and Highschool Sweetheart, Brenda J. (Frey) Charles. They were married in Ralston PA on May 6,1984 and recently celebrated their 40th Wedding Anniversary.

He was born on September 11, 1962 in Smithtown, NY to Harold J. and Marion L. Charles.

Todd graduated from Canton High School in 1980. He entered the United States Air Force in 1984. He continued his career of Federal Service by working at the Lewisburg Federal Penitentiary, then went on to work at the Williamsport Post Office, Williamsport Pa. He retired from the US Postal Service in 2018 after 30 years of service. He was a Letter Carrier, Driver Safety Instructor, and the Vice President of the National Association of Letter Carriers Union for many years. He was proud to call his fellow carriers "Brothers and Sisters."

He was an avid Boater, spending many years enjoying Life in the Finger lakes of New York and traveling the NY Canal System. His next passion came when he started riding Harley Davidson motorcycles. This took him on many trips seeing a large portion of the US and Canada on two wheels. His retirement got him hooked on "Vettes". His highlight was driving it at full throttle on the Watkins Glen racetrack. When he got into something, he went "all in"!!

In 2021, Todd and Brenda made Melbourne Beach, FL their permanent home. There he fell right into the retired life of playing golf, spending time at the beach, and traveling with his wife and friends. The couple was fortunate to travel to the Mediterranean and do a Transatlantic cruise. They spent their time just being able to do anything they chose to do, always together. He perfected the art of Happy Hour! Every day was an adventure when you got to share it with Todd.

He was predeceased by his parents Harold J. & Marion L. Charles; Sister, Linda Lee (Sweitzer) Charles; and Father-in-law, William E. Frey.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Charles; his Mother-in-law, Mary K. Frey (Palm Bay FL); and Brother-in-law, Robert E. Frey (Ralston PA).

Todd will be laid to rest at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, Mims FL.
