Tom Nichols Obituary
June 4th, 1955 - August 15th, 2025
Captain Tom Howard Nichols 70, of Tampa, FL passed away peacefully on August 15th, 2025. Born June 4th, 1955, in Wausau, Wisconsin. Tom was the youngest of eight children born to Forest and Helen Nichols.
A gifted commercial fishing Captain and lifelong entrepreneur, Tom was known not only for his skill on the water but also his generous spirit and deep love of teaching and guiding others throughout his life.
Tom was a man of warmth, wisdom and unwavering integrity. Whether mentoring young fishermen or helping his friends and family chase their dreams his presence left an indelible mark on those lucky enough to know him.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents Forest and Helen Nichols; twin brother Jerry, older brother Eugene Draeger; sister Dolores Nichols Callahan; and his cherished partner and soul mate Janell Sullivan.
He is survived by his loving sisters: Ruth Nichols of Texas, Patricia Luetgan of Florida, Jacqueline Malone of Texas, and Beverly Fisher of Florida. He also leaves behind his daughter by choice Lauren O'Neal, son-in-law David O'Neal . His greatest pride was his four grandchildren David Jr, Dillon, Nickolas, and Brooklyn who brought immense joy to his life.
Captain Tom will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for the love he gave, the lives he touched, and the legacy he leaves behind on land and sea.
