Ursula Maria "Uschi" von Klis

Ursula Maria von Klis, also known as "Uschi", passed away on January 8, 2024, at the age of 70 in Yarmouth, Maine. She was born on August 3, 1953, in Marburg, Germany. Ursula dedicated her life to advocating for those who could not speak for themselves.

She worked over 20 years at Webster House, part of Vinfen Corporation, in Massachusetts as a therapist and job coach. She had a positive impact on many lives over the years.

Outside of work, she continued to help others by volunteering with local organizations in Boston, MA. She was a source of wisdom and a reliable aid amongst people in need while serving with the Medical Reserve Corps and Certified Emergency Response Team. She also liked to stay current with Harvard college lectures and participate in Jewish philanthropic organizations.

Ursula is a daughter and survivor of 2nd generation holocaust survivors. She was devoted to her two daughters and made it possible for them to pursue their dreams.

While dealing with stage 4 cancer, she lived near her youngest daughter, Desiree (von Klis) Epstein, and her family in Virginia before relocating last summer to Yarmouth, ME to be with her oldest daughter, Danielle Sanokklis, and her family until she passed away. She was a cherished Oma to Milo and Hannelore Sanokklis as well as Siena and Adelyn Epstein.

Following Ursula's wishes, there will not be a service to commemorate her life. Instead, well-wishes are encouraged to raise a glass of schnapps and donate to a local charity in her honor.

We want to thank the Hospice of Southern Maine, Yarmouth Community Services, and the New England Cancer Specialists, for their kindness and unwavering support. Also Herndon Harbor House in Virginia who were extremely accommodating to her needs.

Ursula Maria von Klis will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. May her memory be a source of comfort and inspiration.
