Val was an outstanding leader in education and coaching. I had the pleasure of being the elementary school principal (Edith Cavell)sending him some 150-175 grade eight students (to Riverside SS) each September . . . and of refereeing many of his football games for some 30 years. Val was always a gentleman who possessed a respectful image and represented the dignity and integrity of both his profession and coaching fraternity. Val left a great legacy to which his family must be proud. I will have fond memories. Sam Dragich

Dear Joan and Family, Word of Val's death has just reached us in Florida. We send you our deepest sympathies and want you to know you are in our thoughts and prayers. The true measure of a man's life is in what he leaves behind, and Val certainly left behind a beautiful family and he will continue to be with us through his children and grandchildren.

Val was a childhood friend of mine at Walkerville Collegiate. One summer he and I while working at Motor Products, had a two week vacation. We picked up a new car in Detroit and drove it across the US to Portland, Oregon. After delivering the car, we attempted to hitch hike back home. Val had to phone home for money to buy bus tickets from Boise, Idaho so we could
return to Windsor. We had a exciting two weeks together which I will always treasure.

To the entire Motruk Family -

I knew Mr. Motruk while at Forster in the early 1970s. Although not an athlete, I recall his great interest in the school teams...but then again, he was interested in his students in general.

It is my hope that the Good Lord will give you strength as you grieve for you loss. He will be missed.
