PITTSBURG - Services for Vanoy Lester, 86, of Pittsburg, will be 10 a.m. today, July 7, 2009, at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Pittsburg, with Bro. Kyle Smith and Bro. Larry Rice officiating. Interment will be in Bethel Cemetery. Arrangements are by Erman Smith Funeral Home. Mrs. Lester died July 5, 2009, at a local hospital.

Born August 20, 1922, in Franklin County, to Fitchugh Lee Cone and Mary Tedford Cone, she was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Pittsburg, Mount Pleasant Art Society and the Eastern Star. Survivors include her son, Lee Lester and wife Gail of Longview; daughters, Jean Moore and husband Gaylon of Scroggins, and Sharon Stroman and husband Mike of Mount Vernon; grandchildren, Jeffrey Moore of Aurora, Colorado, Gwen Lester Bowman of College Station, Steven Stroman of Mount Vernon, Crystal Stroman of Mount Pleasant; great-grandchildren, Madison Bowman and Jaxson Bowman of College Station, Chandler Perkins and McKinna Wooten of Mount Pleasant, and Joshua Moore of Aurora, Colorado; brother, Chuck Cone of Scroggins; sisters, Sueretta Todd of Rock Wall, and Dimple Davis of Ennis; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Preceded in death by her husband, Dalton E. Lester; parents; and sister, Glennis Gandy. Pallbearers are George French, Wayne Marshall, David Jantzi, Delbert Beckham, Erikk Friberg and Harold Warr. Memorials may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church Building Fund, 307 Elm St., Pittsburg, TX 75686.

JEAN,GAYLON & FAMILY,YOUR MOTHER WAS A PRECIOUS & TALANTED LADY WHO TOUCHED MANY LIVES INCLUDING MINE.I HAD OCCASION TO TALK TO HER & VIEW HER ARTWORK AT THE WHATLEY CENTER IN THE SPRING.WHEN I LIVED IN PITTSBURG & ATTENDED EMMANUALBAPTIST CHURCH VANOY WAS ALWAYS SO KIND & GRACIOUS TO ME.I REMEMBER SHE ATTENDED OUR WEDDING & BROUGHT YOUR SON TO MEET ME BEFORE THE SERVICE.I KNOW SHE WILL BE GREATLY MISSED ON THIS EARTH BUT WE REJOICE THAT SHE IS WITH JESUS HER BELOVED SAVIOR.I REGRET THAT WE COULD NOT ATTEND HER SERVICES.I DID'NT SEE THE OBIT IN THE PAPER UNTIL AFTER THE SERVICES.YOU ARE ALL IN OUR THOUGHTS & PRAYERS DURING THIS SAD TIME.MARGARET & BUDDY THIGPEN
