Veronica E. Miller, age 93, of Waseca, died on Monday, January 11, 2010, at Lake Shore Inn, Waseca.Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 15th at 1:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca with Fr. Marty Schaefer and Fr. John Kunz, Concelebrants. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery.Visitation will be held on Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m. at McRaith Funeral Home in Waseca, and will continue on Friday afternoon for one hour prior to services, at church. There will be a 3:30 p.m. Catholic Daughter Rosary, and a 7:00 p.m. parish prayer service Thursday at the funeral home.Veronica Ellen was born on January 4, 1917, to John and Ellen (Devine) McShane in Iosco Township, Waseca County, Minnesota. She attended Waseca country school, and Mankato Cosmetology School. On September 4, 1940, she was united in marriage to Leo L. Miller at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca. "Love of the land" was what convinced them to raise their family on their first farm near New Richland. In 1971, they relocated to yet another farm near Waseca and continued "tilling the soil" until moving to the city of Waseca in 1983. Veronica was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of America-Court Sacred Heart #1424, St. Agnes Circle, Bible Study Group, New Richland Broadway Unit, and co-founder of the New Richland Garden Club, and an RSVP volunteer. Veronica was an avid reader, enjoyed plants and flower gardening, crocheting, quilting, and playing dominoes. She loved to challenge anyone to beat her in a hand of cards, and treasured the times she could spend with her family.She is survived by her children, Eileen (William) Harguth of Waseca, Kevin (Karyl) Miller of New Richland, and Teresa Miller of Waterville; by grandchildren Brian (Holly) Harguth of Waseca, Susan (Scott) Eberline of Waseca, Sharon (Scott) Murphy of New Haven, CT, Shawn (Nancy) Miller of Rochester, Jeanne (Scott) Hansen of Waseca, Jesse Miller of Waterville, Scott (Kristy) Miller of Lafayette, IN, Dan (Tara) Harguth of Waseca, and Sheri (Jesse) Anderson of Owatonna; by 16 great grandchildren; by her brother Francis (Susan) McShane of Edina; by her sisters-in-law Leona (Kramer) McShane and Leona (Tetzloff) McShane, both of Waseca, and Joyce McShane of Fairmont; by many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband Leo on 12/7/1998; by her sisters Emily (Merlin) Matz, and Kathleen Claffey; by her brothers Ambrose, Gerard, Joseph, and Raymond McShane; by her grandson Christopher Miller and granddaughter Anne Marie Harguth.For on-line condolences go to www.mcraithfuneralhome.com.
