Vici MacIntosh Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 7, 2024.
It is with a heavy heart to announce the passing of Kathleen Victoria "Vici" MacIntosh, 81, who passed away peacefully in Cedar Park, TX, on October 2, 2024. Vici was born on December 16, 1942, to Allen and Kathleen "Tommy" Dorsey in Midland, Texas.

After graduating from Midland High School, Vici loaded her Datsun and headed to the Rocky Mountains to attend college, leaving the desert climate in her rearview mirror. Vici was not only a Jill of all trades who excelled in many different things but also a firecracker determined to set the world on fire and blaze a trail. While attending Colorado State University, where she was affectionately called "Tex," she studied Commercial Art, held a third-degree brown belt honors (San -Kyu) in Judo, and was a fine artist who changed the spelling of her name from "Vickie" to "Vici" to be more aesthetically pleasing on her works of art. Vici also was a fashionista who doubled as a designer and seamstress of her clothes.

After her Colorado journey ended, Vici returned to Texas, where she spent time in Argyle, Denton, and eventually landed in Cedar Park, where she would never let someone confuse that with Austin. Vici was a gourmet cook who could make anything taste amazing, with chicken enchiladas being a source of spirited debate if that was indeed her best dish. She loved golf, where she would tee off from the men's tee and give almost everyone a run for their money. Vici also enjoyed gardening and somehow found the art of keeping a dozen orchids alive for multiple years. Tex also spent a lot of time in community theater, acting and helping other actors with their makeup before the opening act took to the stage. She also loved to travel, with a few of her favorite highlights being kissing the Blarney Stone in Ireland, touring the Acropolis & Parthenon in Greece, and watching Federer and Djokovic face off in the 2015 US Open Men's Final.

Throughout her vibrant professional life, Vici was a realtor, coached young professionals on entrepreneurship, owned several Merle Norman stores, served in the Cedar Park Chamber of Commerce, crafted jewelry she sold at small businesses, and catered events with her delicious meals.

Tex never met a stranger; she would promptly share trivia knowledge and life wisdom, and if you were fortunate enough, she would offer up William Shakespeare prose. She also served as the official 'Twas the Night Before Christmas storyteller every Christmas at family gatherings where wide-eyed kids would always get a kick out of the way she would emphasize and illustrate "a bundle of toys he had flung on his back". Conversely, there would be demands for a do-over when one of her Christmas trivia questions was to name the other reindeer, and few could agree that "Olive" was indeed the other reindeer.

Vici was preceded in death by her parents, Allen and Kathleen "Tommy" Dorsey, her sister Gay Dorsey, brother Conrad Dorsey, and her beloved cousin, whom she cherished as a sister Becky Powell.

She is survived by her children, Matt Simmons, Tracy Simmons, and Chris MacIntosh, and her fur grandbabies, Burroughs and Cooper. She also had several beautiful friends she considered family, whom she loved and cared for immensely.

We are deeply grateful to the wonderful team at The Pavillion who took compassionate care of her and loved her for being uniquely Vici.

In place of flowers, please spread kindness and share your life anecdotes in honor of Vici.

A Celebration of Life honoring Vici to be scheduled in the coming weeks.

For some time, Vici was my grandmother. I will always remember Vici driving me around the lakes of Austin, quizzing me on the names and showing me beautiful fields of blue bonnets. The last time I saw her, we all cried as she, in her unmistakable Texas accent said "you have ARE and have been MY family." Very thankful for the role Vici provided to me at a young age. Thank you, Vici!

I met Vici in the early 90´s in Denton when we were both in real estate. Realizing we both liked golf we started a long friendship on the course and at her house playing pool and other games. She was a wonderful entertainer and cook. We both moved to Austin a few years later and continued our careers and friendship. Over the years we enjoyed trips and a cruise to the Bahamas. Many hours were spent playing trivial pursuit as though we knew few answers. One time she memorized the answers before we played and really got me good.
Vici was a really colorful and sweet soul who had a zest for life and fun to be around. I will cherish her friendship forever and miss her smile and many anecdotes and poems she shared.
Prayers for her children who she loved dearly especially Tracy who made sure she had the best care in her later years.
RIP Vici. You remain in my heart.

I´ve known Vici since I was 12 years old. She was the first woman/mother of all my childhood friends who had her own career and successful business. I didn´t realize it at the time but, as a young girl, it was inspiring to see. She was a force of nature and the reason I never put my elbows on the dinner table. RIP Vici xx Bobbi Jo

Vici's 60th birthday celebration at her house. We had to taste the same wine out of an ordinary glass, then a Riedel glass. She was so right about it tasting better in a special glass ! So I raise my glass of wine to Vici. In a Riedel glass, of course!! Cheers
