Virginia "Ginnie" Liman

Virginia "Ginnie" Faye Liman, a lifelong artist with an eye for beauty in unexpected places, passed away peacefully in Atlanta, Georgia, on August 5, 2025. She was 84.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, to Dr. Leonard and Cecile Vogel, Ginnie was a devoted student of the arts, merchandising, and fashion design. She studied at Boston University, New York University, and the Fashion Institute of Technology as a scholarship recipient, and later completed her degree at American InterContinental University in Atlanta.

Her career in fashion spanned decades-as a trend predictor at Women's Wear Daily for bridal and hosiery, a copywriter for Tall Gal Shoes, a buyer for Allied Stores, and founder of her own styling business, Dress with Finesse. She continued to write, paint, sketch, and design well into her later years.

Ginnie lived as an artist-through fashion, calligraphy, painting, and storytelling-always with wit and whimsy. She was also an advocate for individuals with learning and physical disabilities, bringing compassion and insight to those whose voices were often overlooked. She delighted in good meals, close friendships, and the companionship of her beloved cats. Those who knew her will remember her creative spirit, impish humor, and unique way of seeing beauty in the everyday.

She is survived by her sister Lisbeth (Beth), daughter Erin and son-in-law Marc; daughter-in-law Elianne and husband Steven; grandchildren Evan and Lindsey; and a circle of dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Craig.
