A former tenant farmer on the Welbeck Estate, Mr William Richard (Bill) Bower (96), of Budby Road, Cuckney, was cremated at Sherwood Forest crematorium at Boughton after a service at the chapel.
Born at Mansfield and educated at the town's Rosemary Street School, Mr Bower was a life-long local resident.
A tenant farmer on the Welbeck Estate for 42 years, in 1935 Mr Bower began his farming career at Coxmoor Farm, staying there until 1946 when he went to Park House Farm until his retirement in 1977.
A vice-chairman of the former Cuckney Football Club and vice-chairman of Cuckney Cricket Club, Mr Bower was also a former member of North East Derbyshire Ploughing Association. He enjoyed gardening, shooting, reading, touring with his caravan, cooking and helping his family.
Mr Bower, who died at The Sycamores Care Centre, Warsop, leaves his son, Richard, daughters Jane, Anne and Alison, seven grandchildren, Rachel, Nikki, Becky, Caroline, William, Marie and Peter and six great-grandchildren, George, Ben, Harry, Amy, Emily and Maisie.

Floral tributes were from the family only and donations in lieu of flowers are to be sent to the funeral director, G. A. Townroe & Son, High Street, Warsop.
The service was conducted by Mr B. Little, and arrangements were by G. A .Townroe & Son.
