Wayne B. Utroska

Wayne B. Utroska, age 94 of Clinton, died Sunday Oct. 14, 2007 at Wyndcrest Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held Thursday 11:00 AM at the Pape Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Wednesday 4 to 7 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery. Wayne was born on Sept. 10, 1913 in Clinton, IA, the son of Henry and Martha (Joens) Utroska. He graduated from Clinton High School in 1932. He served in the US Army from 1943-1945 during WWII. He married Joan Matthiesen on March 22, 1941 in Cedar Rapids, IA, she died recently on Sept. 28, 2007. Wayne worked at E.I. DuPont for over 34 years, where helped build the plant. He was a member of the Community Congregational Church UCC and Western Star Lodge #100. At age 90, he was the oldest active member at the Valley Oaks Golf Course. Wayne is survived by a daughter, Karen (Donald) Wallace of Palm Desert, CA; two step grandchildren, D.J. (Karen) Wallace of Houston and David (Teresa) Wallace of Bettendorf and two step great grandchildren, Ben and Ellie Wallace of Houston. He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers and a sister. Memorials may be made to the Clinton Humane Society or Mercy Hospice.Death date: Oct. 14, 2007
