Wilbur Knox Obituary

Wilbur N. "Wib" Knox, 73, of Media, died Aug. 22, 2012 at Chestnut Hill Hospital.

Mr. Knox was born in Gettysburg, where he lived prior to moving to his late residence 47 years ago.

He was a manufacturing representative for Packaging Corp of America for 20 years, and had previously been employed by Inland Container.

Wib was a graduate of Delone Catholic High School, Class of 1957, and Mount Saint Mary's University. Wib considered Gettysburg his home, where he owned the 1863 Inn of Gettysburg, the Jenny Wade House and the Travelodge. He was a member of the Gettysburg Travel Council and the Gettysburg Chamber of Commerce. Wib enjoyed reading about the history of the Civil War and World War II, and loved animals, especially dogs. A devoted family man, Wib was most proud of his four beautiful granddaughters.

He was son of the late Wilbur N. Knox.

Survivors are his wife of 47 years, Anne Jordan Knox; mother Evelyn Adams Knox; sons Eric J. Knox (Donna) and Brian M. Knox (Deborah); sister Wilhelmina "Winnie" McMaster (Michael); and grandchildren Jordan, Ella, Olivia and Taylor.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 22, at Christ Lutheran Church, 44 Chambersburg St., Gettysburg, where friends may call from 9 to 10:45 a.m. Burial will be private

Memorial gifts may be made to the Adams County SPCA, 11 Goldenville Road, Gettysburg, PA 17325.

My prayers and sympathy are with the family at this difficult time. I'll miss seeing Wilbur at our Class Reunions. He was a wonderful host.
