William De Ruiter

DE RUITER, William (Bill) July 23, 1947 - May 9, 2011 Bill passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 9, 2011 after a courageous lengthy battle with cancer. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Sandy, daughter Kelly, son-in-law Scott, and grandchildren Cole and Elizabeth. Bill is predeceased by his son Dougie (1998). He will also be missed by his brothers and sisters, brothers and sisters-in-law, stepmother-in-law Fran and many extended family and friends. A special thank you to his supportive and faithful friends, Bill Windsor and Bobby McDonald. Bill was a lifelong Steveston resident and fisherman. He was well know for his point of view, sense of humour, love of cars, trucks, football, cooking and gardening. Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Service on Friday, May 13, 2011 at 1:00pm at the Steveston United Church, 3720 Broadway Street, Richmond, B.C. A celebration of life to follow at the Chinese Bunkhouse at the Britannia Shipyard National Historic Site, 5180 Westwater Drive, Richmond B.C. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bill's memory to the BC Cancer Foundation.
