Published by Legacy Remembers from Apr. 1 to Apr. 2, 2023.
William "Bill" John Albert Alfred Dean, 61 of Greenville Illinois passed away on 3/26/23 of a tragic snowboarding accident at Wolf Creek Ski Resort, Colorado. Bill was born in Montreal, Quebec Canada on March 30, 1961 to Vera Florence Hubbard Dean and the late Laurence Alfred Dean. Bill is survived by his large and loving family: his wife Debbie, his children Michaela Laurence and William Zachary, his sisters Anne Andrews, Cathy Newhouse (Marc Bondarenko), Janice Woofter (the late Richard Woofter), Donna Day (Dan), Cindy Wehrkamp (Mike), Patti Aitken (Paul) and many nieces and nephews.

Bill graduated from Bridgeport High School, Bridgeport, West Virginia in 1979, received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from West Virginia University in 1985 and an MBA from University of Texas in 1992. Bill's professional career took him to many places across the US and China for many different companies including Johnson Controls, Lennox, Waterfurnace, ShenLong, Bosch, Enertech, Emerson, Big Ass Fans. Bill developed 9 patents in the geothermal HVAC industry.

Bill loved life and lived large. He loved the outdoors-fishing, hiking, snowboarding and wakeboarding. He could fix anything that was broken and was always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need. His competitive nature not only drove him to pursue excellence but also encouraged those around him to do the same.

He was a great son, brother, husband, father, friend and mentor to many. He will be greatly missed. He left us too soon.

Celebration of life services will be held at Wolf Creek Ski Resort, Woodsboro, Texas and Greenville, Illinois.

Sorry to hear about Bill. My condolences. Bill was a great guy. Was fun to be around for football in jr high and high school. He really was person who taught me/encouraged me to lift weights for health (I still have/use barbells we used!) Unfortunately, have not kept up after early college years.

I met and skied (me not him) with Bill for several hours the week before his tragic death. My first thought was "this guy is an excellent snowboarder." The second was "what a nice guy." So sorry for your loss.

We are truly saddened to learn the news about Bill. We have many fond memories of times spent with him and the entire Dean Family. We remember when he was here for us in our times of sorrow with the passing of our Mother. But let us choose to remember the good times, of which, there are many! We send our condolences to Debbie, Michaela, Zach and the entire Dean Family. He will truly be missed by everyone who knew him.

I have many good high school memories of Bill. We took several of the same college-prep classes. He was very smart, and so schoolwork seemed to come easy to him in especially in advanced math and science. I am not surprised he did well on his chosen career, not at all. Bill had a great sense of humor, always smiling and was a good gamer. Once in a while I´d let him win at backgammon lol. Great memories.
Sending condolences and hugs to his family and close friends. Bill was very kind and a "one of a kind"

Bill, larger than life, a great friend and boss. Always uplifting in words and actions. I cannot count the laughs and great times we had. Also, Bill was so proud of Debbie and the "kids". God bless you and your family Bill.

Bill was a good friend. We had many an adventure at the Woofter Complex. Though I lost track of Bill as time cruelly does to us, he was always there when I was thinking of good memories or telling adventures and funny stories. God speed Bill
Condolences to his many family members.
