William H. Dovey
91, of Indianapolis, passed away on October 23 in his home. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Marjorie, and his brother Parmalee. He is survived by his sisters Ann Jones & Adele Bailie, son Paul Dovey (Lisa), daughter Barbara Smith (Quinton), three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and ten nieces & nephews.
Born in Plattsmouth, Nebraska in 1922, he resided in Indianapolis in the early 1930s, then after retirement, resided in Corpus Christi, Texas prior to returning to Indianapolis in 2008. He spent his entire career working in the insurance industry, working for Fireman's Fund Insurance 1950-60, American States Insurance 1960-65, then owning Peoria General Insurance Agency 1965 until retirement in 1992. Bill was an avid bridge player, a world-wide traveler, amateur theatre actor, needlepoint & painting artist, bird watcher and sailing enthusiast. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Lyrics Alive, PO Box 44, Deputy, IN 47230 or Texas State Aquarium, 2710 N. Shoreline Blvd., Corpus Christi, TX 78402.

My mother, Polly Avery Swift, was first cousins with Bill. I speak for my whole family when I say we are sorry for your loss. Mom thought Bill was a lot of fun and loved you all. Our condolences.

Sonny and I were Bill and Marg's across the street neighbors in Corpus Christi, Texas. They were wonderful people!!! We kept in touch through the years by Christmas cards. We loved to hear of his adventures. He was a blessing to us and our four children. We are so sorry for your loss.
