William Duncan Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 10, 2014.
William Leon Duncan, Sr. went to be with the Lord on January 10, 2014. He was born to Jake Ellis and Gladys (Cain) Duncan on December 19, 1939 in Fort Towson, OK. Bill lived in Kaufman and enjoyed reading westerns on his front porch. He worked as a welder and loved welding award winning smokers. He even designed one to look like a pistol. Bill also spent time watching rodeos, play days, hunting, fishing, and mudding at the mud bogs. A generous, kind hearted, loving person to those he knew as well as strangers, Bill once pulled over and helped a man rebuild his fence and get his cattle back in. He married the love of his life, Ellen Cline, on May 11, 1962 and they spent the next 51 years together. He was preceded in death by his father; his sisters Shirley Anne Moses and Tommy Prince and her husband D.V.; nephews Vandall Prince and David Paul Duncan; and son-in-law Roy Lee Dewberry, Jr. Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife and best friend, Ellen; his mother, Gladys; his daughters: Rebecca Gonzales and husband Jaime, Sabrina Wright and husband Jackie, Wendi Duncan; sons: William Duncan, Jr., Eddy Duncan and Michael Wood; brother, David Duncan; sister-in-law, Pamela Cline-Elswick; 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and a host of friends. There will be a gathering of friends and family on Thursday, January 16, from 6-8pm at the Anderson-Clayton Bros. Funeral Home in Kaufman. The celebration of Bill's life will be 1:00pm, Friday, January 17, 2013 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Blackjack Cemetery.
