I just read about Mr Enslen's passing today. And I am deeply saddened by this news. Mr Enslen was truly a well respected man. He was my attorney for my divorce back in 2005 and his words I will never forget... he told me after my consultation... "From here on out I will be your sword and shield " And That HE WAS!! I will remember him always as a kind and gentle man with a caring and giving heart. Rest In Peace Mr Enslen my sword and shield you will always be!!

I really didn't know Bill, but I graduated from the same high school (Hobart), 12 years after he did. My sister graduated the same year as his younger brother, Chuck. Reading his obituary, I felt a real connection, due to the fact we both graduated from Hobart High, as well as Valpo Law School. Very touched by his service in Vietnam, which was an extremely challenging time for our generation. May his soul rest in peace. William Demmon

Bill Enslen was very simply, a good man in both a profession and a world that is far too often lacking good men. It was my pleasure to serve with him on the Pro Bono Indiana Board and its previous regional incarnation in Northwest Indiana.

Bill is an awesome person and he gave so much to our clients and low income individuals around the world. He taught me a great deal and he made me laugh. I will always remember the time when he came into Juvenile Court and I was Pro Tem. He very politely said "I cannot appear before you, because I am your boss!" With a big smile on my face, I agreed and we rescheduled his hearing. May your heart and goodness continue to spread around the world.

Bill served for ten years as a Board member of the Office of the Public Defender of Lake County. Bill supported my appointment as Chief in 2016 and I have had the honor of being the recipient of Bill's sage counsel and leadership. Bill shared my passion and vision in the evolution of our office, and was a staunch advocate in providing quality representation for indigent folks facing felony charges. Bill was always available and was a rock I could lean on and a great legal mind I could pick in navigating complex legal and ethical issues. Whoever once said "everyone is replaceable" clearly did not have the privilege of knowing Bill Enslen. Thank you my friend.

Bill was at all times a gentleman, humorous and a joy to work with on projects including cases, legal services and the Lake County Bar Association. He was a mentor to many, and an excellent lawyer who practiced with civility and collegiality. Bill will be remembered as an outstanding member of our profession, but most importantly as a friend and colleague with those who knew and worked with him. He is sorely missed. My sincere condolences to Bill's family.

Heartfelt condolences to Bill's family, friends and colleagues, from the opposite end of our Hoosier State. I served on the Board of Directors of Indiana Legal Services for many of the same years that Bill was on our board, and while he was our president. What a good, and wise Man. Bill served for 20 years as a director on the board of Indiana Legal Services, a statewide organization that provides free assistance to low-income Hoosiers with civil legal problems. Before that, he served for many years on the board of Legal Services of Northwest Indiana, and he was a key person in merging LSNI and three other organizations to form Indiana Legal Services in 2000. Bill served as board president of Indiana Legal Services for a two-year term, and he was instrumental in guiding our organization through some difficult financial times. We at Indiana Legal Services, statewide and especially in our Merrillville office, are so grateful for Bill's leadership and work on behalf of our organization. We send our condolences to his family at this most difficult time.
