William J. Douville, 92, lifelong resident of Bedford died October 25th, 2016 at a local healthcare facility after a period of declining health. Born in Bedford on August 29th, 1924, he was the son of Joseph and Julia (Shiney) Douville. During WWII, he served as a medic in the US Army Air Corps and saw action in the Pacific Theater. Prior to retirement, he had been employed by both JF McElwain Shoe Company and as a carpenter at St. Anselm College for nearly 30 years. Bill volunteered for the Bedford Fire Department for many decades and was an active supporter of his community his entire life. He was often times jokingly referred to as "The unofficial Mayor of Bedford". He also was a longtime communicant of Sacred Heart Church. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 53 years Yvette A. (Charest) Douville in 2001 and his son, Arnold "Arnie" K. Douville in 2011. Family members include his sons, Dr. Ronald W. Douville and wife Ellie of Gilford, Roger G. Douville and wife Elaine of Georgetown, TX; his grandchildren, Ryan, Lauren, Allison, and Brittany; his daughter-in-law, Debbie Douville of Leawood, KS; many nephews, nieces, and cousins. There are no calling hours. Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to support the Bedford Fire Department, 55 Constitution Drive, Bedford, NH 03110. Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, Manchester, is assisting with arrangements. To send an online message of condolence, please go to www.lambertfuneralhome.com.

Ron, Our sympathy to you and your family. We will always appreciate the nice job your father did on the drywall finishing when we were building our house in Amherst. Remember him tactfully pointing out that he had never seen so many drywall screws and seams, but he made them all disappear so nicely.
Our thoughts are with you.

When I first arrived at Sacred Heart over 20 years ago, your parents welcomed me with such warmth and sincerity of heart. Your dad was always present when any project needed to get done. He took great pride in whatever he did. He had a deep love for your mom and for the two of you. Know that I shall keep him in prayer as you mourn his loss and celebrate his reunion with your mom. May he rest in peace! I will celebrate Mass in his memory here at St. Michael. Sincerely, Fr. Marc Montminy, pastor at St. Michael in Exeter.
