William Lombardo Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Mar. 30 to Mar. 31, 2009.
LOMBARDO, William S. Left this world on March 27th, 2009, his hand lovingly held by his devoted wife, and surrounded by loved ones. Precious husband of Angelina Lombardo (Innocente). Loving son of the late Regina and Angelo Lombardo. Devoted father to Bill and wife Joanne, Bob and wife Lucie, Brett and wife Beatriz, Bradley and wife Margaret, Barry and wife Suzanne, and Brion and wife Gail. Cherished Nonno to Charlotte, Brianna, Robert and wife Aimee, Jennifer and husband Jason, Jeremy, Tyler, Drew, Nick, Kacey, and Vanessa, and great Nonno to Ben. Dearest brother to Dr. Robert and his wife Dolly Lombardo, and to his late sister Dolores. Beloved brother-in-law to Catherine and husband Aurele, Leo and wife Jennifer, Ron and wife Cathy, Norman and wife Janice. Sadly missed by his loyal dog Brando. He will be deeply and forever missed by his diverse and wide circle of family and friends, which spans across Canada, the United States, and Europe. A human life is a story told by God. William Lombardo lived a life based on his love of God and strong faith. A dedicated member of the former congregation of Holy Rosary Church, he was very supportive of the La Salette Fathers and a generous benefactor to many causes. Successful at all he attempted, in the early 1950's Bill joined his father at A. Lombardo & Son Construction Ltd., transforming it from a fledgling enterprise into a major builder of Windsor establishments, including churches, recreational complexes, schools, automotive supply com-panies, and homes for the aged. In the early 1970s, Bill and Jina moved to southern Spain with their three youngest children, returning to Windsor the following decade. He became President and CEO of Peerless-Cascade Plastics Ltd., and diligently turned it into a premier auto supplier in both Ontario and Kentucky. Part of his legacy there was as a pioneer in establishing positive em-ployee - management rela-tions, as well as a fair and equitable workplace for all. Above all else, he was utterly devoted to wife Jina; their marriage of almost 60 years was an inspiration to us all. They travelled the world, rejoiced in its wonders, laughed at its absurdities, and cried at its injustices. They talked, debated, loved, shared, and cherished each and every memory they created. Their children adored their dad, and he advised, consoled, prayed for and loved them with all his heart. The bittersweet tears shed over a grave are for words left unsaid and deeds left undone. For the family, we know that no words were ever left unsaid and that he lived his life to the fullest. Our tears are shed because we can longer witness his amazing life and be a part of it. W.) for mass at 10:30 a.m. Cremation to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery. Share memories or make a charitable donation online at FamiliesFirst.ca
