He has won awards starting from 1952 with the School Actors Award from Mt. Gilead Elementary School to The Order of the Long Leaf Pine Citation issued by the then Governor James B. Hunt. He was also inducted into the Greensboro Business Leadership Hall of Fame, won the National Business League Businessman of the Year Award, and Service to Mankind Award. William was preceded in death by his parents, William Carter Parker, Sr. and Vallie Simon Parker, as well as his brothers Henry W. Parker, and Charles D. Parker. He leaves to celebrate his life and teachings to a loving and devoted wife, Markethia Baldwin Parker, two daughters, Kamala P. Jones (George) and Keisha P. Purvis (Phillip); grandchildren; Yaffia Christiana Lael Marsh, William Carter Parker Jones, Shante Jones, Nathaniel Jones, Derek Jones, Mahogony Robinson, Aeron Jamal Purvis and Moses Parker Purvis. He also leaves eleven siblings, their spouses and in-laws: Josephine P. Bradley, Greensboro, NC; Margaret L. Parker, Greensboro, NC, Alexander P. Parker (Theodora), Greensboro, NC; Evelyn P. Reives (Johnie), Richmond, VA; Mary P. Floyd, Hempstead, NY; Bettye P. Thornton (Frank), Richmond, VA; Clifton Parker, Greensboro, NC; Alvin L. Parker (Gwendolyn), Greensboro, NC; John H. Parker (Catherine), Hempstead, NY; Melvin Parker (Loritha), High Point, NC; Mack B. Parker (Wanda), Raleigh, NC and Tony E. Parker (Patricia), Greensboro, NC. Other in-laws include Katrena B. Horton (Larnie), Raleigh, NC and Charmain B. Isaac (Timothy) of Washington, D.C. He also leaves to cherish his memory a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
