William Joseph "Bill" Robbins, age 94, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2025, in
Galt, California. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and faithful servant of God, Bill lived a life marked by integrity, dedication, and deep love for his family and faith.
Born on April 23, 1930, in Sacramento, California, Bill was a proud native son who remained closely tied to his roots throughout his life. He graduated from Sacramento High School before pursuing higher education at the University of San Francisco, where he earned a bachelor's degree in Political Science.
Following college, Bill embarked on a successful career in finance and real estate. He began as a mortgage banker in San Francisco and later transitioned into commercial real estate development in San Mateo. Eventually returning to his hometown of Sacramento, he founded Robbins Land Company. Through this venture, Bill played a pivotal role in shaping the city's landscape-developing two Holiday Inn hotels, numerous office buildings along University Avenue, and several high-rise buildings in downtown Sacramento. His vision and leadership left an enduring mark on the community he loved.
Bill also served his country with honor as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps. An expert rifleman with a passion for aviation, he especially cherished missions that involved flying-an experience that remained close to his heart throughout his life.
A devout Catholic whose faith was the cornerstone of his existence, Bill rarely missed Mass-even while traveling-and prayed the rosary daily with his beloved wife Catherine during their 47 years together. He served as a Eucharistic Minister and was an active member of the Knights of Malta, participating in numerous charitable events that reflected his commitment to service and compassion.
Bill found joy in many pursuits outside of work and faith. He was an avid golfer and a loyal fan of the San Francisco Giants, 49ers and Sacramento Kings. His love for travel took him across the globe-but nowhere more frequently than Hawaii, which he visited over 40 times. These trips brought him great happiness and relaxation.
Above all else, Bill cherished time spent with family. He is survived by his loving wife of 14 years, Ann Marie; daughter Monica and her husband Joe; son Michael and his wife Stacy; daughter Brandi; and grandchildren Courtney, Nicholas, Laura, Sean, Linsay, Kate, and Sarah. Also, 5 great grandchildren. He now rests peacefully alongside Catherine-his first wife of 47 years-as well as his parents and numerous other family members who preceded him in death, including four beloved dogs: two German Shepherds and two Cocker Spaniels.
A perfect gentleman known for his kindness, honesty, and tireless work ethic, Bill Robbins leaves behind a legacy built on faith, family devotion, professional achievement, and unwavering moral character.
May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and may he rest eternally in peace. A Memorial Service will be held on May 22, 2025, from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at St. Ignatius Catholic Church 3235 Arden Way. There will be a reception in the parish hall following the memorial service mass.
