Our sincere condolences to his wife, son and family. He was not just my Dr, He was My earthly Angel that God sent to Earth. He was a Compassionate and Dedicated to His Career Dr. Thanks to him I am a survivor of Canser en los Senos. where other Drs said they couldn't. He said YES and YES. In 2014 my surgery with Dr William Zamboni was a success. Today there is a party in Heaven, an Angel is with God. Rest in Peace Dr William Zamboni.

Dr. Z was a special surgeon and teacher, and it was a privilege to be trained by him during my residency. He had so much knowledge and skill. He demanded excellence and accountability, but he didn't expect anything of us that he didn't provide himself. He also had a tremendous gift for making complex issues seem very simple. His impact stretches beyond Las Vegas as his residents and fellows begin and continue their careers. When I graduated, he told me to call him anytime, day or night, and he always made time for me when I did. He took his role as teacher and mentor beyond the years of residency training. I will miss him tremendously. I will miss being able to just ask Dr. Z. The last time I saw him was when I visited the clinic with my family, and I can still see him smiling as he held my daughter. He cared for us like family. I send my deepest condolences to his family. Thank you, Dr. Z, you will not be forgotten.

Like other patients in Las Vegas, I found out about Dr. Zamboni's death by letter from UMC. I was stunned - he was a wonderful surgeon and I shall be forever thankful for the fact that my aging face looks so much better than I thought it could. I am always taken aback when someone so much younger than me passes away. To his family and friends, I share a sentiment someone sent me when my mother passed: perhaps the stars in Heaven are openings where the love of our lost ones pours through to let us know they are happy. I sure hope that is true.

I knew Dr. Zamboni when he was on faculty at SIU School of Medicine. We did a couple of media stories together and he was always professional and very engaged. I particularly remember when he successfuly reattached a young boy's foot. I occasionally emailed him over the years and he always responded. I just heard of his passing. I was stunned. He will definitely be missed. Definitely one of the great ones.

"Billy Z." stopped his very busy life and medical practice to take a quick look at my daughter's face. You see, her wedding day was two days off, and she had been hit in the face. We just needed to know if we could go ahead with the wedding on the scheduled day, the doctor at the E.R. was unsure.
As an old Manogue acquaintance, Billy did me the favor of checking on her - I was in Reno - I couldn't even properly ask for this favor, yet he did it anyway.
For us, Billy Z. is a part of the wedding story that we tell to my daughter's children, for that was ten years ago.
He will forever be in our hearts, and our family history. We send our deepest condolences from our family to yours.

I just recently heard of Dr. Zamboni's passing and by reading some of the comments written here on his guest book, I have to say I could not have said anything better myself. Years ago when he was a plastic surgery resident here at SIU in Springfield, IL, I was working in Surgery as a scheduler and knew of him. My 2 yr old daughter had an accident on her left ring finger that required plastic surgery attention and he was on call...needless to say after treating her injury, she looked at Dr. Zamboni and said to him "Thank you doctor" without any prompting from me. The ER nurse was so impressed by a 2 yr old saying thank you to a doctor. Now that speaks volumes of the type of doctor and person Dr. Zamboni was!!! That entire event in ER with my daughter I will never forget. The entire Zamboni family have my sympathy.

My heart is heavy with this news! As a burn survivor , Dr. Z. and his wonderful team handled everything from the debridement to the skin grafting. Even in my worst days, he never greeted me with anything but a smile, he brought comfort to my my family and I during a very difficult time!
When the graft got infected, he took the time to yell at the irresponsable rehab nurses at a different establishment then called my mother to say, "I'm bringing her back in!"
When I asked if I were going to die because of the extent of my injuries, he grabbed my hand . "Not on my watch , Kid!", he said.
The burns have healed remarkably and my face-- which was unreconizable prior.. you can't even tell except for one or two small scars ..
You helped give me a second chance at life, Dr. Z. The only way I can repay you is to live that life with as much grace as you did!
I have so many angels watching over me and I now count you as one of them!
From the bottom of my heart, the entire Zomboni family and UMC family have the deepest sympathies of the Farrar/ Koeb famies!
Peace and comfort be with you all!

Dear Karen, Nicolis and the Zamboni Family,
Dr. Z was a very dedicated man in all that he did. It was my privilege to work for Z for 23 years. He never recognized the word "can't". He always said "What can we do to make this happen?". Dr. Zamboni checked off his goals as he accomplished them. I always pictured him with a list of goals in his pocket. He will be sorely missed by everyone with whom he came in contact. I pray for peace, comfort, and hope in all your endeavors. We all hold many memories of Z. God bless you.

To the Zamboni family. My prayers are with you all. I have worked for Dr Zamboni for ten years. Him and Karen did a lot for the staff. I remember the first party that Nicolis came to and was swimming. Love joy in Dr Zamboni's eyes was one of the most precious moments. You will be missed but never forgotten. Thank you for all you have done for the teaching the ought the years. The first time I was in clinic with him scared me, but Isela and Dr Zambomi told me everything will be ok. I was so nervous that after the day was done I learned a lot from him. Karen prayers to you and Nicolis. There are no words to make you feel better but knowing you and Nicolis can share great stories.

I worked for Dr. Zamboni in the Surgery research lab. It was an honor to work for him. He was a good, kind, and brilliant man. The research lab exists because of him. It was evident that research was one of his passions. His research team would meet with him at least twice a month to discuss our progress on projects. He would often share stories during this time of Nicolis and Karen, it was clear how much he loved them. He will be sorely missed.
Karen, Nicolis and the Zamboni family: You are in my thoughts and prayers. I send you my deepest sympathies.

I'm very sorry for the loss of such an amazing person. He touched so many lives in such a positive way. He will be missed by all of us... This past week his resident students whom trained with him and continued to become surgeons have called the office to share stories. They all thank him for everything he did to help them to become surgeons.....Karen I'm so sorry for the loss of Dr Zamboni. He was very blessed to have you as his wife as Nicolis is to have you as his mother. Dr Zamboni and you are what we call TRUE LOVE... The team work between the two of you as parents and at the office is an example of what marriage is about. In the middle of busy clinic if he heard Nicolis was in the office his face would light up with a big smile. The two of you meant the world to him.... The Zamboni family is in our thoughts and prayers.

I have worked for Dr.Zamboni for 15 years, but I never had the chance to thank him for the opportunity he gave me in 2000. I was fresh out of school after being a housewife and stay at home mom for 8 years, and fresh out of school. I was asked to fill in at the Plastic Surgery department at UNSOM during my externship. For some reason I might have done a good job because he hired me 3 weeks into my training. Little did I know that I would be working with such a talented surgeon . He was the extent of my training. His motto was "you watch me do one, you do the next one". And he wasn't joking. Running his clinics were exhausting but so rewarding. I was taught by the best and watched him teach others. Teaching was something he loved to do and I had the privilege and the honor to be a part of it. I will always hold those memories close to my heart. My husband and my girls have been affected by this loss, and we will miss him.

Dr. Zamboni has been a friend, leader and mentor to many in a rewarding and productive life that has sadly been cut short. However in his lifetime he has accomplished and touched more than many can do in a lifetime.
I remember meeting him through one of my closest friends Richard who is an example of the guidance, mentorship, support, knowledge and friendship that epitomizes Dr. Zamboni. In that brief meeting, he has always remembered me and demonstrated a genuine interest in a person he met through chance. That is the embodiment of a true gentleman and physician.
He will be dearly missed.

This is a tribute to my dear friend William Zamboni, MD who I have known and worked for 15 years. Through the years, Dr. Zamboni, has demonstrated leadership and excellence, he motivated us to reach our full potential, and provide compassion towards our patients at the School of Medicine. Our conversations centered around his family who he loved more than life. Nicolis, was always at the top of his conversations, I remember going to the hospital to see Karen when she delivered, she was shaking and cold, but was overjoyed at the sight of little Nicolis. He was brought into this world by two outstanding parents who are cherished in the community, could we all be so lucky and blessed. I will miss him more than you know, but feel reassured to know that heaven has opened the gates for him. God be with you until we meet again. To Karen and Nicolis, know that he is in a better place and earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal. You are always in my prayers, and I look forward to seeing you soon. Raymond Joe

Dr. Zamboni was beloved. I never fully understood what it meant to be beloved, but all you have to do is read all these kind words from people all over the country who knew him in every possible capacity and it's clear he was a good, kind, trusted, and beloved man.
He always tried to do the right thing for his faculty, patients and staff. He was a tireless champion for our school and department. He loved his precious Nicolis so very, very much. All you had to say was How is Nicolis? and his eyes would light up and he'd tell you the cute thing that Nicolis just did. He was dedicated to Karen, Nicolis and his family. We will miss him dearly. All my thoughts and prayers are with the Zamboni family.

The highlight of my work day was standing beside Dr. Z in the OR. Besides being a trusted and exceptionally talented surgeon, he was a dedicated teacher. Over the years I gained not only a tremendous amount of respect but a dear friendship that I will forever cherish. Dr. Zamboni meant the world to me and he will truly be missed. We often joked about liposuction being our least favorite case, but we always seemed to end a day in the OR with smiles on our faces no matter what the cases were.
Karen and Nicolis; Dr. Z was a true super hero to everyone who had the pleasure of working with him. I loved him very much. My deepest sympathy goes out to you. I know that you now have a very special guardian angel looking out for you.

I remember when Z recruited me to join the faculty in surgery. He painted a picture of what he planned that was so exciting I was overwhelmed at his offer and readily accepted. I am one of the very few that was doing surgery in Vegas when UNR started at UMC with one surgical resident. There was steady but slow progress until Z took over. He attracted outstanding residents and recruited many to join the faculty after training at places like Harvard, Stanford,USC,and others. He built a surgery program that was gaining notoriety all over the country. His graduates are working at MD Anderson, Stanford and other prominent hospitals. He is responsible for an amazing increase in the quality of surgical care in Vegas. He was truly a man of vision who realized much but had so much more ahead to accomplish. The Zamboni surgery family is a testimonial to his life. Vegas and all of us are much better because of Dr William Zamboni.
My condolences to Karen and all the family

A brilliant surgeon, highly intelligent and committed to what ever he did. I had many discussions and arguments with him. He was the support I needed to submit the PIF for the emergency medicine residency. Without his support there would not have been an emergency medicine residency. He was pleased when we got an initial 3 year approval for the residency. I received one of the finest notes I have ever gotten from a colleague when we received the 5 year approval on our first application after our initial approval. I cherished that note because of my great respect for Bill.
He will be so missed, not only by his family but by all of us who had the privilege of working and interacting with him.

I'm so sad and sorry to hear about the passing of Dr. Zamboni. I send my deepest heartfelt condolences to his family. I was his patient and he performed a breast reduction on me in 2005.
I remember a funny incident the morning of my surgery. The nurse came in and told me that "Dr. Zamboni is running about 15 minutes late." I replied "Oh that's okay. He probably stopped at Starbucks." I remember the nurse laughing and stating "Oh no ...no ...no .... Dr. Zamboni does not get his own Starbucks, he has staff for that" and then we both just laughed at the absurdity of my comment. Of course he did. He was the boss, the man in charge, a brilliant surgeon, he earned the right to delegate that task to someone else. I remember when he arrived I teased him and said "oh yeah, you went to Starbucks didn't you?" I remember he smiled and laughed at my joke. Dr. Zamboni was a very gentle and nice person and I felt so relaxed the day of my surgery as he reassured me that everything was going to be just fine. He did such an amazing and beautiful job. The reduction changed my life, boosted my confidence and took away my lifelong insecurity. I am grateful to him for doing that for me and I hope he knew just how much he positively impacted so many lives. From that point on, I always raved about him and I recommended him to many other women who went to him for the same procedure.
I feel so blessed to have this very faint small scar, because it will always be a reminder to me that I was touched by this very brilliant surgeon and that I am but just one tiny piece of the great legacy that he left behind.
