JAMES PFISTER
LIMA — James "Jim" J. Pfister, age 92 of Lima formerly of Kenton and Troy, passed away at 7:01 p.m. on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima. He was born in Evansville, Indiana on November 26, 1921, the son of the late Rev. Herbert E. and Bertha (Stelling) Pfister. On August 26, 1945, he married Joan Walker Seaman and she passed away July 17, 2013.
Jim is survived by his sons Chris (Randie) Pfister of Lima, OH and Fritz (Kristie) Pfister of Springfield, IL; daughter Mindy (Mark) Growden of Cumberland, MD; and 12 grandchildren & 7 gt. grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son David Pfister, brothers Herbert and Jerry Pfister, and a sister Chloe Rehfield.
He graduated from Kenton Senior High School in 1941 where he was a member of the football team in 1939 & 1940. After high school he attended Ohio University.
Jim was a retired News Reporter working during his career for the Lima Citizen, Toledo Blade, Cleveland Plain Dealer, and Pfister News Bureau.
He had several news articles and photos picked up by the Associated Press.
He was a member of the St. John's United Church of Christ in Kenton. In his free time, Jim enjoyed hunting and was a conservationist.
There will be a graveside service for James "Jim" J. Pfister held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at Grove Cemetery with Rev. Scott Johnson officiating. Visitation will be held Monday, June 30, 2014 from 5 - 7 p.m. at the SCHINDEWOLF-STOUT-CRATES FUNERAL HOME in Kenton. Memorial donations may be made to the St. John's United Church of Christ or the Donor's Choice.
