RONALD HOUSTON

LIMA — Ronald "Ron" Nelson Houston "Chewy", age 76, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer on February 25, 2017 and passed away on March 20, 2017 at St. Rita's Hospice surrounded by several loved ones. Ron was born on March 8, 1941 in Lima, OH to James J. and Wilma L. (Anderson) Houston who preceded him in death. On July 29, 1961 he married Marilyn K. Lawson who survives in Lima.

Ron was a fun loving husband to Marilyn for 56 years, father to Julie, Jeff (Tracey Willoughby), Andy (Sheris Thompson) and Jon (Laura). He leaves behind 8 grandchildren: Katie (Jordan) Shaffer, Laiken Houston, Lane Houston, Konnor Houston, Royce Houston, Ryder Houston, Olivia and Kierstin Renner. He also leaves behind 3 great-grandchildren: Cayden, Cambri and Chloe Shaffer and his brother Jim (Alice) Houston who resides in Los Angeles, CA. Several nieces and nephews. He was also an amazing father figure to so many others. He was preceded in death by his sister Sharon and his granddaughter Bellane.

Ron graduated from Lima Senior High School in 1959. He retired from Ford Motor Company after 31 years. He was currently working for KOI/Siferd Hosselman and had previously worked at Randall Bearing. He was also a member of the "chain gang" for the Bath Varsity football team for several years and he was a member of the Lima Moose Lodge. Ron was an avid Ohio State, Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Reds fan. He loved to cook. He really loved to cook for large parties. He loved to spend time with his grandkids and great-grandkids. He enjoyed being around everyone and left a legacy that will live on forever.

There will be a funeral service held on March, 25, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Shawnee United Methodist Church. Officiating the service will be Rev. Charlotte Hefner and assisting will be Rev. Bryan Bucher.

Friends may call on Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and then on Friday from 2:00 to 8:00 pm at the CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Memorial contributions may be made to Bath Community United Methodist Church. Condolences may be expressed www.chiles-lamanfh.com

I worked with Ron at Ford for many years. I always called him Ronnie and he called me Tricky Ricky. Those were the fun times at Ford. Sorry to hear of his passing. He was a fun to be around
