John Haynes Obituary

John Paul Haynes, 69, of Marceline died Friday, January 29, 2021 at Harry S Truman Veteran's Hospital, Columbia MO due to CO-VID complications. He had been a resident of Pioneer Skilled Nursing the past three years.

JP was born in Marceline April 25, 1951 the son of Howard and Maxine (Bell) Haynes. He was a Marceline resident nearly all of his life, except for a short time when he lived in Colorado. On April 14, 1989 he married Jackie M (Pollard) Peel. They subsequently divorced, but remained close friends. He was previously married to Margaret (Lamay) Gilbert.

He was a United States Army veteran having served a tour of duty in Viet Nam. He was assigned to the 11th Armored Calvary. He had been a self-employed plumber, employed at Brigg's-Cupp Chevrolet and Lambert Construction, all in Marceline. In 2009 he retired from Moore Fans of Marceline, where he had been employed for fourteen years. In prior years (until his health slowed him down) he was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed spending time at the OK Tavern or Marceline Eagles, where he was a member for thirty-four years, and had been a trustee. He also enjoyed watching his son wrestle and play football.

John Paul is survived by one son, John Wesley Haynes (Sarah Curry) of Laclede, three grandsons Grant Wesley, Maddox Bruce and Cooper Paul Haynes all of Laclede, four sisters Glenda (Earl) Hayes, Bucklin, Peggy Wilson, Patsy (Ronnie) Chowning and Susie (Roger) Meyer all of Marceline, a half-sister Janet (Lewis) Jacobs, Keytesville, long time close friend/significant other Jackie Haynes, Laclede, long time close friend Jim Riddle, a host of nieces and nephews/great-nieces and nephews and a step-son Drew Gilbert. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers-in-law Gary Walgren and Keith (Blackie) Wilson, nephew Jamie Chowning, great-niece Ashley Hughes and long-time close friend Jim Lambert.

JP's wishes were to donate his body to science, but due to being a CO-VID related death that was not possible therefore, he will be cremated. There will be no funeral services. A wake will be planned at a later date. Memorials may be made to any organization supporting veterans or to Jackie Haynes to be added to the educational expense fund JP established for his much loved grandsons and left or mailed to Delaney Funeral Home, 1720 N Missouri Ave, Marceline, MO., 64658.
