Alexander Zulla Obituary
Montrose - Alexander Zulla of Montrose, NY passed away on Novemebr 1, 2018 at the age of 82. Alex was born in Croton-on-Hudson, NY on August 27, 1936 to James and Catherine. Alex proudly served in the US Navy from 1954- 1957. On September 20, 1958 he married the love of his life, Cecelia Schlechting. Alex was a member of the Local 137 Operating Engineers out of Briarcliff Manor and a life member of the Montrose Volunteer Fire Department.
Alex is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Cecelia Zulla and by his loving son Michael Zulla and his wife Lori Ann; also by his loving daughter Laura Zulla Mayer and her husband Robert. Alex is the grandfather to Michael Taylor Pokriki (Jennifer), Kristine Zulla (Michael Shea), and Stephanie Zulla Conklin (Dillon), and great grandfather to Abigail and Micaela. He is survived by his brother-in-law Albert Schlechting and his wife Kathleen, and by sister-in-law Eileen Schlechting, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Alex was predeceased in death by his brothers August and Ralph Sasso and by his brother-in-law Edwin Schlechting.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 4, 2018 from 3-7pm at Edward F. Cater Funeral Home, 170 Kings Ferry Rd., Montrose, NY. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 5th at 10am at St. Patrick's Church in Verplanck with burial to follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery also in Verplanck.
