Barbara Weakley Obituary

Weakley, Barbara C.

Barbara Jean Weakley passed away on October 12, 2012 at the age of 76. Born on December 24, 1935 in Bloomington, IL, Barbara was the daughter of Lon Maxey and Marie Kominoski. She was a graduate of Cleveland High School in St. Louis, MO, Class of 1953, University of Missouri, Class of 1957 with a BA in Education and St. Louis University Class of 1986 with a MA in Education. Barbara was a teacher at Rye Presbyterian Nursery School in Rye, NY during the seventies and at St. Louis the King School at the Cathedral in St. Louis, MO from 1980-1984. As a licensed Social Worker she became a counselor at St. Patrick's Center, Catholic Charities, St. Louis, MO from1986 until 2010. While living in Rye, NY Barbara was a director for Rye Youth Employment and President of the Osborn PTA. She married James Donald Weakley on November 16, 1957. Sadly their marriage of 24 years ended when Don died on June 16, 1982. Surviving Mrs. Weakley are two children J. Craig Weakley of Rye, NY and Lisa Chiappetta of Mamaroneck, NY and six grandchildren: Emma Chiappetta of Hanover, NH, Nina Chiappetta of Mamaroneck, NY and Jessica, Dominick, Julia and John Rossi Weakley of Rye, NY. A memorial service will be celebrated at the Rye Presbyterian Church on Saturday November 3, 2012. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer's Association, 2900 Westchester Ave., Suite 306, Purchase, NY 10577, www.alz.org/hudsonvalley.
